I saw ROTS for the 2nd last week. God, the acting was awful. Natalie Portman's South Cali accent was thick enough to cut with a knife. It's mind boggling that Lucas let her get away with saying 'aright' rather than 'alright'. Or that he'd write a line with the 'alright' colloquialism in the first place.
Maybe the process of directing 'Howard the Duck' permanently reduced Lucas' IQ by fourty points.
Uh, actually, Clown--and I know how hard it is for you to accept that sometimes it's NOT ALL ABOUT YOU--I believe LF was referring to frequent SitD commenter "PB."
Can't be Clown. For all of his many and obvious faults, he can spell.
As I said yesterday, the PB initials can't be a coincidence. I thought it was hilarious.

Was Lileks' choice for the fictional comment-troll's name "PeeveBoy" inspired by someone we all know and loathe, or just a really wierd coincidence?

Posted by: Ryan at March 28, 2006 01:16 PMA composite character, perhaps. The name is Peeb's, but the contempt is clearly modeled on Angryclown.
And that Carly Simon song? Totally about Angryclown.
Posted by: angryclown at March 28, 2006 01:21 PMI have it on good authority that "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" is also about Angryclown.
As is "Ice, Ice, Baby."
Posted by: Ryan at March 28, 2006 01:34 PMActually, Lileks never directly quoted the troll. Therefore, I think happy jester may have a difficult case.
Posted by: Armchair Squirrel at March 28, 2006 02:59 PMagain, I would assert A.C. was not held enough as a child....

Plus, Clown tends to have a sense of humor.
Peeved Bloviator was a humorless leftie with an earnest stick firmly up his ass.
I still suspect that Mitch made him up.
