Schizo Nation?

South Korean youth seem to draw no distinction between Washington and Pyongyang:

Nearly half of South Korean youths who will be old enough to vote in the country's next elections say Seoul should side with North Korea if the United States attacks the communist nation, according to a poll released Wednesday.

At the same time, 40.7 percent of the 1,000 young people surveyed said Seoul should remain neutral in the event of hostilities between Washington and Pyongyang, according to the poll by The Korea Times and Hankook Ilbo dailies. Only 11.6 percent said the South should back its longtime U.S. ally.

In the West, people seem to follow Churchill's dictum; a person who's not a liberal at 20 has no heart; a person who's not conservative at 40 has no brain.

Ever since I was in high school, South Korean students have been rioting against the US, and in support of the North. And yet by the time they reach adulthood, they join a society that is largely allied with the US.

Any ROK sociologists out there?

TRUE DEMOCRACY HAS NEVER TOOK PLACE ON THE FIRST PLACE,SINCE THE FIRST AMMENDAMENT OF THE HUMAN RIGHT TESTIFIED FOR THE HISTORY THAT "WE THE PEOPLE ARE ALL EQUALS",IS JUST A DREAM LIKE THE ONE FOR WHICH MARTIN LUTHER KING DIED........SO THE YOUTH ARE REALLY RESENTFULL AND CONFUSED ABOUT THE TRUTH AND THE FALSITY OF THE CORRUPTED DEMOCRACY BUILD BY THE 1st GENERATION OF THE PARENTS......CENTERED ON MONY-POWER AND POSITION...
AND IF YOU JUST BELIVE IN GOD WOULD YOU KILL OR LOVE YOUR ENEMY?
PEACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WEPONS OR KILLING AND STILL WE MISUSE AL THE TIME THE WORD "PEACE"......EVEN IN SPORT THERE IS VIOLENCE,RACISME,HEATRED......
THERE IS ANY ANSWER OUT THERE?!
STILL I DO BELIVE THAT CULTURE AND SPORT ARE THE REAL MEDIATORS FOR WORLD PEACE AND SO FOR NORTH/SOUTH KOREA UNIFICATION.

Nah, couldn't be. Didn't accuse Mitch of being hypocritical or cowardly and it wasn't nearly long enough.
