Christmas Buzzkill???

Cathy in the Wright, in a post from last Friday, ran through some reasons Christmas just didn't feel quite right; the unseasonably-warm weather played a part, of course.

And then...:

Or maybe it's because I heard some contemporary Christian singer butcher "Angels We Have Heard On High" so badly that I couldn't shake the mental image of Jesus crawling back up on the cross and yelling, "They're not quite ready yet, Dad."
I heard a disturbing amount of that this season.

And after seeing their damn ad on TV all this past month, I'd love to have been at this pitch meeting:

SUIT #1: "The Trans-Siberian Orchestra? What's that? Balalaikas and Mukluks?

SUIT #2: "No, no! Er...think Mannheim Steamroller crossed with Whitesnake!"

And yet Christmas goes on.

I haven't seen the TV ad, I don't watch much network TV, but I am absolutely hooked on Trans-Siberian Orchestra! They are what Manheim Steamroller WISHES they were...yes, we are going to see the concert tomorrow night. I can't wait!

How rediculous! Whine in the dark is a sad little blog

Speeking of the Transvestite Orchestra, I wrote about loosers fakeing my comments here:

Fake Posts on Residual Forces
Those fake posts are on Andy's post that describes a poll of 6th Congressional District Delegates. I pointed out that these posts did not come from me a few days. Andy, the owner of the blog has decided not to address the issue. (When this sort of thing is pointed out on my comment threads, I investigate - and I will ban people who do this). Tony Garcia now is suggesting that Andy delete the posts that are not mine:

Andy, it is obvious which Eva posts are not hers…I support the deletion of those regardless of the quality of the post.

This is par for the course on the Kool Aid Report and Swiftee's blog. People have also posted fake "Eva Young" comments over on Whine in the Dark, Mitch Berg's blog.

Tony Garcia's comment on Residual Forces goes on in a more substantive vein:

Poll-gate? Nah, I just think the poll is worthless. Not for the methodology questions (all very legitimate) but for the fact that it really said very little.

Bachmann was in 2nd…behind “undecided”. Yep. She’s likely taking the first ring pro-lifers. Knoblach is taking the slightly more militant out-state pro-lifers. Only the uninformed person could take one of those two as their fiscal-top-priority choice. While “uninformed” describes most voters (and almost all same-day voters) it does not describe most delegates. They know their pet issues and they know which candidates support their pet issues. Bachmann & Knoblach are not the fiscal-conservatives top choice.

So that said, Krinkie is holding those people. Esmay is grabbing the Ventura-liking wing of the GOP. . . the ones that like the outsider and the people that know him.

The undecideds. . . I’m willing to bet a large amount that they are torn between their pro-life priority (where they would then choose Bachmann or Knoblach) or their fiscal-responsibility priority (easily their choice would be Krinkie). Of the pro-lifers Knoblach and Bachmann will split those…my hunch is the split would also be geographical.

For conventions, it's good to know first and second choices of delegates.

UPDATE: A commenter adds:

Mitch Berg not only allows fabricated posts on his sad little blog, but he also alters the comments of legitimate posters with whom he disagrees. You can't believe a thing you read on Grope in the Dark, or whatever it's called.

I had forgotten about that one. That's true - Mitch Berg does alter comments of legitimate posters.

Curious, why won't Andy delete fake posts. Can't he tell the defference?

Whenever I hear Mannheim Steamroller, I'm always reminded that Chip Davis co-wrote the song "Convoy".

Correct. He also wrote the Old Home Bread commercials featuring the Old Home Fill 'Er Up and Keep On Trucking Cafe

You realize he's in Omaha, right?

Every time Twin Cities politicos say we Must have this or that, to avoid being a cold Omaha, I keep thinking - they've got Mannheim Steamroller, and we've got . . . Prince?
