Norway's Crown Prince, Haakon, visits the Twin Cities today:
Minnesotans will get a chance to cast their eyes on His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon during his two-day visit to the state today and Thursday.Peaceful break? The prince's trip here — his only official visit to the United States this year — is a part of Norway's centennial, which commemorates the country's peaceful break with Sweden 100 years ago.
Crap. That's gonna leave a mark on my lucrative side business selling Norwegian Revolutionary War memorabilia on Ebay.

Tragically, the Quisling press continues to cover up the horror of the Black Hole of Hammerfest.
Posted by: Lars Walker at October 19, 2005 08:23 AMAs a Crown Prince of a socialist country does he have to drive his own car?
Posted by: Kermit at October 19, 2005 08:54 AMAnd from the strident opinions my two immigrant Norwegian grandfathers had regarding Swedes in general there was no love lost.
I had a Finnish FA-18 driver in my last PME class. They seem to hate the Swedes too!!!
Posted by: fingers at October 19, 2005 10:13 AMThe Swedes are like the little know-it-all foreman who made life miserable for everyone - until he got demoted. Everyone's still got a grudge.

Posted by: mitch at October 19, 2005 10:20 AMBy the way, Fingers - there are a few comments under yesterday's post, "the smear spreads", that you might be interested in...
Posted by: mitch at October 19, 2005 10:22 AMhe was in the states for the gigantic norwegian festival up in minot, nd...which featured such wonderful norwegian musical acts as charley pride...nothing quite so norwegian as a black country-western singer
Posted by: cleversponge at October 19, 2005 08:01 PMYah gotta feel for the guy. Every place he goes he has to sit through another local production of Per Gynt.
Posted by: rick at October 19, 2005 08:59 PMThat knucklehead is just looking to scrap with somebody! Some serious bitterness issues too. Passed over perhaps?
Posted by: fingers at October 20, 2005 08:04 AMNo, Cleversponge, Prince Håkon wasn't in Minot. I was in Minot myself (you might check my hard-hitting reports at www.brandywinebooks.blogspot.com), and the royal who showed up there was Prince Marthe Luisa, who is, I think, his sister. She was there to promote a book.
Posted by: Lars Walker at October 20, 2005 08:19 AMPrince Håkon, Princes Marthe Luisa - all them blond white motha****as look the same to me.
