Viking Sex Cruise Redux

I entitled a post "Viking Sex Cruise" the other day, and got probably 1,000 extra visits.

Which is ironic, considering I'm not really a football fan, know little about the happenings on the Viking Sex Cruise, and have never really considered football players (since Walter Payton, Mike Singletary and Richard Dent, anyway) role models.

But if you happen to be googling to this site for information on the Viking Sex Cruise, check out Mr. Cheer Or Die's Viking Underground, where they actually follow this stuff.

Football, I mean.

(However, if typing things like "Viking Sex Cruise", "Minneapolis Hookers" and "Daunte Culpepper buffs up my ad rate, so much the better)

As a legal matter, this thing could really turn into a festering wound for an NFL club, if the reports of the hookers/strippers being brought in from out of state are true. Transporting people across state lines for the purpose of engaging in prostitution is a Federal crime. All it takes is a federal prosecutor looking to make some headlines for this thing to become a constant bleeding wound for months on end. The type of enterprises which handle these services tend to be not so diligent on paying taxes, so there would be plenty of hay to make for an ambitious lawyer in the employ of the Feds. Picture prominent NFL players testifying in open court as to what sex acts they enjoyed by which hookers hired by which interstate pimps.

Maybe Zyggi Wilf should call Mike Hatch and ask if lemon laws apply to sports franchises.

Who cares if these guys like a good wholesome orgy on their time and dime?

I am shocked, shocked and appalled that our Vikings players imported prostitutes from Atlanta and Florida. What's the matter? Aren't our Minneapolis prostitutes good enough for them? What can those east coast prostitutes do that our Minneapolis prostitutes can't do? Perhaps our prostitutes exhibit a little too much Minnesota nice. I don't know, but I am troubled and disturbed. I would like these players to at least support the local economy.

Hey, I'm inclined to think that prostitution should be legalized, if regulated. For better or for worse, however, it is illegal, and transporting people across state lines for the purpose of engaging in prostitution is a federal rap. That is what kind of interests me about this story; the utter, rank, stupidity involved, on so many levels. What, you couldn't just have the whores come over to your house, or on a yacht without a paid crew? You had to go out of state to procure them? There is no limit to human stupidity.

As a business matter, of course, NFL teams are in the business of selling warm and positive feelings. Any employee who interferes with that enterprise via their behavior in a public place, and a charter boat with a paid crew fits the description, can be legitimately targeted for some harsh punishment by his employer.
