City Pages: Molehill In, Mountain Out

Saint Paul mayor Randy Kelly had a rough primary; his challenger (and former wholehearted fan) Chris Coleman got nearly twice as many votes in the city's qualifying primary.

So what?

I mean, there's no way to spin the primary as good news for Kelly - but the primary draws the most motivated of voters, and in Saint Paul this year the most motivated voters are the ones baying for blood over Kelly's courageous endorsement of George W. Bush last year.

The City Pages' Paul Demko tries to pile on.

Swiftee piles right back:

The fact is that of 161,538 registered voters, only 25,303 people managed to show up to cast a ballot for anyone...So why the blatently misleading propaganda?

Perhaps it's because the drubbing Kelly took was the work of the 10% of Saint Paul voters wh have been casting spittle flecked practice ballots since August of '04, and that come November the majority of people who have taken note of the unprecidented revival that has occurred in Saint Paul over the last decade (in the absence of a moonbat majority city council) will take the time to ensure that their city is not returned to the Che brigade of the DFL.

For all of the chest thumping that has been taking place, the left wing's sheep herders know that when people are given the means by which to make an honest assessment of the moderate political leadership that has guided Saint Paul for the last 12 years, their alternative looks bleak.

We'll be looking into how bleak in the coming week or two.

Read the rest of Swiftee's piece.

More - much, much more - to come.

(And the Friday Funnies are back, and with style!)

Hey Doug,

Nice catch..next time have your wife come up and introduce herself..I can always use another house mouse.

House mouse? Is that the type of woman you surround yourself with?

That explains a lot! ;)

off topic on another post...Payton was a heckuva guy to model after, I don't think sports has seen his peer very often, maybe Gehrig, maybe..and I think a LOT of Gehrig.

I don't consider Kelly courageous, I consider him foolish. I think he misread the waters, that Bush was somehow developing an undercurrent of popularity. I also think he's gotten a fair amount of support from the other side of the aisle, and looked to repay it. It will cost him his seat.

To that end, Norm (the prostitute) Coleman screwed St. Paul into oblvivion from a budgetary standpoint. It will be a long-time recovering, and holding Kelly accountable is profoundly unfair. I think he's actually been okay, I'd still vote for Coleman (Chris) before him, but he's not so bad that he deserves to be mistreated (as he has been) by the DFL. Kelly is just a little too ready to sign-up the city for yet another boondoggle private/public venture.

If you disagree about Coleman btw, go look at the figures on Lawson's sales, its financial outlook, and look at the bond rating for St. Paul (which Minneapolis is following down the drain). Kelly probably would fail to successfully float more corporate (CEO) welfare bonds, but he might not, and he'd sure like to try for the Twins. It never ceases to amaze me that some of those who decry irresponsibility among welfare recipients, are ready to hand out Billions to companies who both don't need it, and don't deserve it.

Ah well, such is the hypocrisy of close-minded politics.

There's a bit of the Pot calling the kettle black on the Friday Funnies. What's with this sheep thing?

Randy Kelly would be better off if Swiftee wasn't his most visible supporter in the blogosphere.

Lavender Magazine interviewed the Mayoral Candidates - and Randy Kelly was helped by that interview.

We'll see what happens with the letters to the editor for the next issue.

We'll see if either St Paul Mayoral candidate advertizes in Lavender for the next issue.

I comment on this interview on the St Paul issues list:

"There's a bit of the Pot calling the kettle black on the Friday Funnies."

Wow. You're sounding pretty humor-challenged, Eva.

"What's with this sheep thing?"

Huh? You titter endlessly at Ken Avidor's puerile photoshopping, but you get the vapors over Ken Avidor flying up a sheep's ass?

I guess humor's never been your long suit...

"Randy Kelly would be better off if Swiftee wasn't his most visible supporter in the blogosphere."

More visible than every single NARN blog?

(And I suspect the District Six DFL thinks the same thing about your being the most visible Bachmann detractor...)

"Lavender Magazine interviewed the Mayoral Candidates - and Randy Kelly was helped by that interview."

Was he?

I mean, it was a good interview and all, but do you think *any* Saint Paul gays are going to break with the DFL hive over a Lavender interview?

I mean, I'm thinking it's a tiny fraction of a population that is itself a tiny fraction of Saint Paul.

Every little bit helps, of course.

Why would Avidor fly up a sheep's ass when I was standing right there? Redeculious!

Curious..Is Avidor bovine bigot?
http://www.cowdance.com/bovine/

I will intervew him about this on my blog.

Michele Bachmann has not said anything about this, is she bigoted towards cows too?

I comment on this everywhere, just google my name and stick a pin in anywhere.

But frst........

Read my blog!
