Hollywood comes to Saint Paul.
Yaaaawwwwwn.
Who cares whether Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, director Robert Altman and other film royalty were on hand Wednesday when filming on the movie "Prairie Home Companion" commenced. Outside St. Paul's Fitzgerald Theater, one name and one name only mattered -- Lindsay Lohan..."I'm praying that we see her," said Smith, who had been next door at Central Towers visiting her grandma. It's like this: "Here I am, a regular schmuck from flyover land. Your life is worth so infinitely much more than mine that I'll be happy to spend irreplaceable hours of my life waiting on exchange street to watch you brush by.""I'll probably freak out," said Wald. "She's such a nice girl."
The sometimes bored, sometimes bemused crowd ranged from a handful to maybe a couple of dozen.
I'll pass.

Atlanta is having fun with Keillor - he stomped off the stage (instead of his alleged "usual" meet & greet) after the show at our infamous Chastain Park venue, home of the clinking wine glasses and endless chatter, decrying the drunken louts at the "corporate tables." It's hilarious. The organizers were quite simply begging for trouble by having the show at Chastain. Keillor should be yelling at whoever on his team booked the venue without knowing what they were getting into, but instead it's all down to Northern Liberal Saviour vs. Drunken Redneck Philistines.
I think I know where my money's going.
Posted by: Brian Jones at June 30, 2005 03:27 PMI suspect we'll get a Woody Allen film without the clever lines, without the New York City scenery, with some neurosis, but without any interesting neurosis, and with roughly 1/5 of the humor. A cozy little snoozefest that'll be seen mostly by Americans who know who Susan Stamberg is, but not me.
Posted by: RBMN at June 30, 2005 04:17 PMPissed that you didn't get an invite eh Mitch?
Posted by: Dan at June 30, 2005 05:03 PMThis might surprise you, Dan, but I've spent enough time among "stars". I was a producer, and I booked and met a lot of B and C list stars in my day.
And they're really no big deal.

Is that really the best you can do?
Posted by: dan at July 1, 2005 10:38 PMYou've got the witt of a potato.
Only one "t" in "Witt".
What kind of vegetable are you?
Posted by: Stolie at July 2, 2005 05:19 AMOh goody! The typo police are here just in time!
Tell me Stolie, were you a hall monitor back in high school?
Posted by: Dan at July 2, 2005 06:33 AMNo, Dan. I wasn't.
Were you voted "most likely to be subject to a restraining order" in high school?
