Via the Fraters, I read John Hawkins' poll over at Right Wing News, "Who's Screwing Up America".
And I wondered - why concentrate on the nation?
Who is screwing up Minnesota?
Unlike Hawkins, I'm going to to rely on some hand-picked blogger. I'm tossing it open to all of you. Who's the problem here?
NOTE: This post was based on a brief mention in a post by Elder at Fraters:
Perhaps we need our own list of the people screwing up the North Star State. It's true, that's what sparked this post.
Therefore, to he shall all the glory go - he to whom the bards of old wrote their epics:
They call him Elder
Some imitate, none quite get.
Light walks among us.
"Credit" does not, indeed, cover exactly what Elder is owed; words like "Tribute" and "Obeisance" come to mind, but aren't adequate.
For starters, I nominate:
Not to be nitpicky Mitch, but the whole "Who's screwing up Minnesota?" idea is taken directly from my post. I don't mind you picking up on it and asking for submissions, but credit should given where it is due.

Elder, reparations are underway.
Posted by: mitch at June 21, 2005 09:18 AMArne Carlson...if for nothing else he is nominated for botching the redistricting for the 1990s giving the DFL 10 years of free reign.
Posted by: Tony at June 21, 2005 09:58 AMThe left-wing of Minnesota's ELCA clergy.
For their misguided "divine" call for America to always surrender first, and become the international doormat/punching-bag for all the world's worst terrorists and dictators, lest we "offend" any of them before they try to kill us.
Posted by: RBMN at June 21, 2005 11:08 AMPuhleeze....after today's insanity it is the Star Tribune editorial staff hands down!
Posted by: Cindy at June 21, 2005 05:06 PMRBMN: My Mom used to work in the Mpls ELCA Synod office. She was 1 of 2 conservatives in the entire office. It never ceases to amaze me how a Christian, let alone a Christian LEADER (pastor/priest/minister) can claim to be pro-choice.
Other Nominees:
Wes Skoglund (but he's a one trick pony)
Larry Pogemiller
Andy Dawkins
I would say Roger Moe, but thank God he's gone.
Garrison Keillor
In a short while, Al Frankenfraud (to steal Laura Ingraham's nickname for him)
But yes, after this week, Strib Editorial board and Jim Boyd wins hands down.
Posted by: FJBill at June 22, 2005 01:43 AMMuch better Mitch.
Posted by: the elder at June 22, 2005 06:22 AMMichele Bachmann. For giving conservatives a bad name and making us all look like loonies!
Posted by: the furball at June 22, 2005 11:21 AMGrover Norquist and Karl Rove for their long distance telepathic screw-up of Timmy's head and by extension the whole state.
Michele Bachman for relentlessly shoving her pseudo-moral demagoguery in the faces of the citizens of the state, distracting us from things that actually matter.
Steve Sviggum for being from a small town with a small mind to match.
Posted by: Spot at June 22, 2005 02:12 PMMichele Bachmann - for giving the beautiful city of Stillwater a black eye.
