I Hated Wham, Anyway

Ageing pop star and style icon George Michael has been accused of murdering a penned bear in a pen in northern Minnesota.

Inside word - his next song will be entitled "Wake Me Up Before You Kill a Helpless Animal".

Disgusting.

CORRECTION: The star accused of killing the penned bear is
country star Troy Gentry, of the group "Montgomery Gentry", rather than George Michael of the eighties pop band "Wham".

I sincerely regret the error.

This is a riot!

When it's George Michael...

"I Hated Wham, Anyway:"

"Ageing pop star"

"murdering a penned bear"

"his next song will be entitled "Wake Me Up Before You Kill a Helpless Animal"."

"Disgusting."

When it's a country music star...

I can almost hear the Ghost of Emily Litella... "nevermind..."

And todays' award for "Least-Grounded Inference" goes to Doug.

I am noting the happenstance that Gentry and Michael (in his prime) bear (hahaha), to me, a striking resemblance.

I didn't change my conclusion in any way, explicitly or implicitly.

Jeez, Doug - if a conservative orders a pizza in the woods and you're not there to hear it, is he still a racist?

Sorry, Mitch, but in order to be consistent, you are required to slam Montgomery Gentry now. Even if you like(d) them. I never heard of them.

I like bubble gum pop a great deal, so I had no problem with Wham.

And them White Pizzas is delicious. Doug.

I got the joke, Mitch. Good one!

Damn... And I thought I had a perfect opportunity to pull out the Emily Litella reference.

I sincerly appologize for pulling a Evil Knievel with conclusions.

According to the article, Gentry apparently bought the bear and killed it in the pen. It doesn’t appear that there was anything illegal about him killing the bear only in trying to register it as if it were killed in “fair chase.” He appears to be in trouble for “conspiracy to falsely label the animal” which carries a maximum fine of 5 years and $20,000.

No word yet if Mike Hatch or Amy Klobucher will be called in to prosecute . . .

Any relation to "Ode to Billie Joe" Bobbie Gentry?

I will refrain from southern relations humor ;-)

Doug,

Don't get me wrong - a good Emily reference is worth a reach once in a while.

I can see the confusion, George Michael, into bears; Montgomery gentry, into killing bears.
