Iraq, On The Record

The House voted on HR 861 today - expressing support for the Administration's appreciation of Iraq's importance in the War on Terro.

Minnesota's delegation voted mostly on party lines, with Democrat Colin Peterson crossing over to vote "yea" with Republicans Gutknecht, Kline, Ramstad and Kennedy.

DFLers Betty "Rubble" McCollum, Jim Oberstar and Martin Sabo expressed their sympathy for a return to dictatorship in Iraq.

Let's make sure we remember these votes in November.

"DFLers Betty 'Rubble' McCollum, Jim Oberstar and Martin Sabo expressed their sympathy for a return to dictatorship in Iraq."

Wow.

I continue to be impressed by your... personalized standards of decency. I accuse AK of climbing up your ass and that's completely beyond the pale-- you can't even debate with me about issues anymore because I'm just so crude it derails your train of throught. But you accuse Democrats who don't get in line behind your political agenda of sympathizing with a mass murderer.

So, to review: "assmarten" is an unforgivable insult, but "accessory to murder" is just another example of Mitch's razor wit.

I hope your party holds the Congress in 2006, Mitch. I sincerely do. And again in 2008. I hope you guys hold on for a good long time.

Joshua said,

"I hope your party holds the Congress in 2006, Mitch. I sincerely do."

God, I thought I was the only one with that sentiment... I have been looking forward to a good old fashion revolution for a while now!

Joshua,

Not sure I get the "assmarten" reference. Wonder if you do, either. But your idea of "Debate" seems to involve reasoning and evidence when you feel like it, and referring to anyone who agrees with your opponent of "giving a reacharound".

And don't flatter yourself - crassness doesn't "derail" anything. It's just depressing and desperately dull.

And yes, Joshua, saying that opposing the extinction of the Baathist/Islamonazi attempt to retake Iraq is tantamount to wishing a return to dictatorship by omission *is* different than saying "you're an idiot, and anyone who agrees with you must want to give you a golden shower", or some variant of "God, you're such an idiot, I can't believe I waste the time bothering with you", which is what every "discussion" with Joshua inevitably seems to break down into.

If you think you can rationally compare the two, feel free.

Mitch shrieked: "Baathist/Islamonazi attempt to retake Iraq."

Notice the right-wing cranking up the rhetoric as the situation becomes every more desperate. It seems like you no longer think we can win and are increasingly looking for a personal exit strategy, Mitch. Why else get so bent out of shape over the votes of an out-of-power political party on a meaningless resolution?

Just wondering when the right will take responsibilty for this war and either win or shut the fck up. Angryclown would vastly prefer the former, but the latter sure would be an improvement.
