Hey, this will be fun - I'm doing my first-ever "solo" personal appearance, this coming Thursday (March 9) from 5:30 to 7:30, at "A Wine Affair, a monthly food 'n wine expo put on by the show's great friends at Three Sons Catering.
So what exactly is going on? From the event website:
Exploring some of the most innovative wines from Australia and New Zealand, and pairing with tapas from Down Under.Be advised that, having eaten Kangaroo Jerky at the MN State Fair (during one of the Fraters' Fair Food specials), I'm here to tell you that "tapas from down under" are going to be, as Steve Irwin would say, a yuuuuuuuge imrovement!.
Now, for me, until recently "fine dining" was "a McDonald's with an indoor playland", so this is going to be a lot of fun. I hope y'all can join me there!
And if you call 612-874-0880 and tell 'em the Patriot sent you, you get 10% off, too.
Hope to see you there!
UPDATE 03/08: Sign up fast! Tickets are going!

I heard your radio commercial for the event. You should do more commercials. You sound professional--kinda cheesy-like. :-)

Cracked open the Pilsner brew tonight. I cannot believe that I brewed this! I'll bring some down the next time I'm in town.
Enjoy yourself at the expo!

I think his one friend only gave up beer, or was it wine, either way, he could go. BTW, I don't mean Mitch only has one friend, he's got quite a number, because, despite all this bluster back and forth, he's a pretty decent guy, with a good radio voice.
BTW Mitch, your voice is actually higher on radio than in real life. That's unusual, considering most on-air folks pot down their highs and up the low range.

Posted by: pb at March 8, 2006 01:26 PMMicrophones do strange things to my voice. When I was doing voiceover for a living in the eighties, I had the engineers punch up my 1-2.5KHz band; did wonders for me. Not sure I can do that at the Patriot...

And having known PB for the better part of 20 years, I'll vouch that he's also a good fella.
Unstinting in self-confidence in his opinion, naturally ;-) (and thus TERRIBLY unlike me, of course) but a good guy.
