Evidence?

A commenter to an earlier thread noted something I'd missed; Al Franken has moved his show to Minneapolis.

The locals are all atwitter:

As you may or may not know, The Al Franken Show of Air America Radio is now broadcasting out of the Foshay Tower in downtown Minneapolis. Welcome to the Twin Cities, Al and company!
Now, if you're an Air America fan, that's gotta be bad news; Franken feels it's worth leaving his network's home turf, diminishing his access to the left's movers and shakers, to be here in the Twin Cities. He's now disconnected from the network...

...just in case.

Perhaps he's beginning the fufillment of some sort of electoral residency requirements? Franken v. Coleman 2008?

That is exactly what he's doing. It's the next great Frankenfraud. He wants us to believe he's really a Minnesotan. Even after living in NYC for thirty years. Not that theres anything wrong with that...

Franken-stein is here...how delicious....

I see holding the House and Senate is shaping up quite well for 2006 and 2008. Red staters will be more marginalized in the city centers where they can fester in their juices like Minnecrapolis and S---- Paul (can't use a C-word work because of church-state separation).

Franken is the embodiment of this mindset.

Is he broadcasting from the same moldy basement as Wendy Wilde was? If not, can't he spare some of the huge dollars he received at AAR and donate his studio to local AAR hosts?

Another curious note: It seems Frankenfraud's salary demands may have slowed AAR's Gloria Wise Boys & Girl's club repayment...

We should keep tabs on this if he does run for senate...

From AM950's advertising web page....

Now you have a VERY REAL CHANCE of getting in on the ground floor of the First Great Advertising Bonanza of the 21st Century ... AND get your message on the fastest growing radio station in the Twin Cities.....

By fastest growing they must be referring to the mold.

Nancy:
Al is in (probably) swanky digs at the Foshay Tower (can anyone who goes downtown scout it out?) Meanwhile the local affiliate is operating in quarters that don't appear to meet OSHA standards. (More Air America irony).

Al is probably saving the network some money by moving to Mpls, but not as much as he could. And you are right he's deluded enough to think he has the chops to beat Norm Coleman for the "Wellstone Seat" which is the only reason he's here IMHO.

PC,

Of course he is!

"Al is in (probably) swanky digs at the Foshay Tower (can anyone who goes downtown scout it out?) Meanwhile the local affiliate is operating in quarters that don't appear to meet OSHA standards. (More Air America irony). "

Remember - Air America in NYC *hates* Janet Robert. Sources tell me that they don't like her politics (pro-life and pro-gun, even if otherwise batspittle lefty), or the way she's pre-empted network programming for their local shows.

"Al is probably saving the network some money by moving to Mpls, but not as much as he could."

Air America has to pay the rent on its Manhattan offices no matter what - plus maintain a staff here in the Twins. (And what a staff! While a regular talk show could operate just fine with a host, an engineer and maybe a producer - Hugh Hewitt operates with a producer, an engineer, an Admin, a WebXena and a couple of interns), I'd suspect that Franken needs his staff of writers and "researchers". Whether they're in Minneapolis or New York, it's still headcount on a (bloated) payroll.

"And you are right he's deluded enough to think he has the chops to beat Norm Coleman for the "Wellstone Seat" which is the only reason he's here IMHO. "

It's going to be an interesting two years.

self correction...blue state....

red staters are the good guys.

Mitch: "It's going to be an interesting two years."
And a very entertaining Senate race, to be sure. Al has said so many truely stupid things the soundbite garden is way overgrown. Regarding his SNL days I wonder if he'll tell us he didn't inhale.

Maybe now that Al has moved Air America could let those poor minority folks back in to air some reggae and calypso again. Since we all know how generous Al is when it comes to hiring minorities...

“Remember - Air America in NYC *hates* Janet Robert. Sources tell me that they don't like her politics (pro-life and pro-gun, even if otherwise batspittle lefty), or the way she's pre-empted network programming for their local shows. “

That sounds logical. Even so, Franken/AA needs AM950 to be successful; or does pride and vanity trump common sense? (I know, dumb question).

“Air America has to pay the rent on its Manhattan offices no matter what - plus maintain a staff here in the Twins. (And what a staff! ……..I'd suspect that Franken needs his staff of writers and "researchers". Whether they're in Minneapolis or New York, it's still headcount on a (bloated) payroll.”

Is that still the case? Do they still have the bloated payroll, or have they cut way back? The only evidence I have seen of their staff of writers/researchers is that someone is being paid to listen to both Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, every day, hoping to catch them saying something exploitable.

One more thing:
AM950 still has a picture of Katherine Lampher on their Al Franken page. They must have the same speedy webmaster as the New Patriot.
