"Inauguration Day is the day on which the President of the United States is sworn in and takes office. Originally held every four years on March 4, the ratification of the Twentieth Amendment to the United States Constitution changed the time for the President and Vice President's terms to begin to noon on January 20th, beginning with Franklin Roosevelt's second term in 1937."
And it's my birthday! One year and (almost) 2 Catholic, conservative SCOTUS justices later; it's why we do what we do....

My good friend had worked in Washington on the national Reagan campaign the previous fall and had gotten a job afterwards with the new administration. He invited me down to DC for the inauguration. A $29 flight on NY Air (cheaper than Amtrak) and I was there. It was very bright, cold, and clear that morning. Words cannot express the joy I felt, and the good spirits of the crowd as we stood on the Mall that morning.
