Sam Alito, Laura Ingraham and Me

Another reason the three of us are so freakin' cool:

His music tastes tend toward Beethoven and Bruce Springsteen but "I force him to listen to Scarlatti and Bach," Mrs. Alito said in a Washington Post interview published Monday. He once attended a ska festival _ that's rock music, with a touch of reggae and horns.

Lately, her husband has been reading "Civil War stuff," Mrs. Alito says. Once, he began teaching himself Greek so he could read the philosophers in their original language. He also took up juggling.

"He's a great marksman _ he can do double clays," she says, meaning he can hit two clay pigeon targets thrown simultaneously into the air before either hits the ground.

Take that, Dianne "Guns Are Evil" Feinstein!

Word has it Chuck Schumer has never missed a Celene Dion gig.

Mitch,

Love reading your blog!

It's like reading a modern day Mark Twain...keep it up!

I would love to hear your digs on the Whining Wimps north of the boarder who still think that they are morally superior to us. Don't they realize that we play better hockey than they?

Keep writing, I intent to keep reading.

Yes, but when do we find out more really pressing details like whether he wears boxers or briefs?

Posted by: Dean at January 9, 2006 12:22 PM

So I guess then.. as John Kerry is a well regarded hunter, known to be an excellent shot, this means JK is just as cool as Mitch, something I'd liken to being as cool as warm butter...but then again, it was always cool to be self-aggrandizing in Mitch's (and Kerry's) worlds.

"as John Kerry is a well regarded hunter, known to be an excellent shot,"

He was caught in a number of photos, violating quite a number of basic firearm safety rules. Which means I'm much cooler than him - but then, in my world, it's cool to get one's facts straight and not eat the party line whole.

Try it, Peeb.

Posted by: mitch at January 9, 2006 03:12 PM

Well, Mitch, as for getting facts straight, that came from Time Magazine (September 2005 as I recall - read it over the weekend while waiting for my son to finish his Sax lesson), and the quotes were from hunting friends who happen to be Republicans.

It's funny what a hypocrite you are, you mouth the party line incessantly, and then accuse others (falsely) of doing so.

Whatever, Mitch, you're awfully thin-skinned... you might try growing up, if you do that, I promise I won't mouth the Dem Party line (something I've not done for probably 2 decades or more, but whatever - just about as long as you've been needing to grow up).

PB

"Well, Mitch, as for getting facts straight, that came from Time Magazine (September 2005 as I recall"

Ah. Assuming you're correct (I don't, but whatever) - wow. They NEVER had an interest in hagiography of Kerry!

"read it over the weekend while waiting for my son to finish his Sax lesson), and the quotes were from hunting friends who happen to be Republicans."

Ah. All that, and Republicans, too?

Wow. I sit corrected.

"It's funny what a hypocrite you are, you mouth the party line incessantly, and then accuse others (falsely) of doing so."

I'll give you the same challenge that Eva flunked. Kindly show me where I "mouth the party line". No, not where I agree with the GOP; I'm a Republican, I get to do that. No, you show actual "Mouthing" of "party line" - and do it now, before you launch any more of your factually-self-indulgent bloviation.

"Whatever, Mitch, you're awfully thin-skinned..."

Peeb, for you to say any such thing is both wrong, disingenuous, and (knowing you) ironic.

Posted by: mitch at January 9, 2006 04:00 PM

Wow, PB is back in force.

What was it Robin Williams said in "Good Morning Vietnam?" - "You, sir, are in more dire need of a B*****b than any man alive".

Take a breath, big guy.

Posted by: Allison at January 9, 2006 04:16 PM

Mitch,

Considering how easily your manhood is slighted, having you spout back at me my own lines, is rather, funny.

Beyond that, I've been insulted by lots of folks (as have you), long ago I learned not to much care about the opinions not deserving of respect.

The really funny thing is, you're the one so desperately in need of taking yourself FAR less seriously, I freely and often admit my flaws, yet you seemingly without end try to paint me with that brush. Me thinks thou dothst protest too loudly.

Oh, btw, as for juvenile posts..

Mitch, question for you, who is the greater juvenile, the one who asks if a judge should recuse himself from judging his benefactor, and whether identity politics should extend to the courtroom, or the one who misunderstands/fails to comprehend the ACTUAL question, reacts with something entirely NOT at issue, and then calls the first person juvenile?

Hmm.. wonders.. wonders..

Once again, Mitch, you prove my point so well, I really don't have much more to do than to point out your hypocrisy.

PB

Posted by: pb at January 9, 2006 05:16 PM

No Mitch, you get the challenge first, because it was YOU who accused ME of mouthing the party line first.

and as you said, not of just occassionally agreeing with the Dems, but of ACTUALLY mouthing the party line (oh btw, what an utterly disingenuious challenge - it's unprovable, and therefore also irrelevant- but you go with your bad self, keep putting out irrelevant challenges), but since you made the original accuastion that ALL I do is mouth the party line, prove it.

I'll give you another, since you accused me of being "less busy" than you (wow, what arrogance that was), and that you don't post during the day (well ok that's slightly exagerated you said you maybe squeeze in a post if you can), please explain all of your posts during the day today... light day?

PB

Posted by: pb at January 9, 2006 05:23 PM

Less busy? WTF?

You seem to have a tendency to conjure these slights from whole cloth. I'd ask where in the effing eff you got that, but I'm sure it'll be in vain.

My day was light enough.

Re: pb. Ugh, another solid blogsite message area co-opted by a left wing jabroni. "pb" is likely a wannabe blogger who is neither bright nor interesting enough to cultivate his own following - so he has set up parasitic shop in Berg's basement. Talentless little hacks like pb have become a scourge of blogdom.

Actually Mitch, it was that I said, like you, I am rushed, post when I can, have a stressful job.

You came back with something to the effect of you really were different, you posted only during the day rarely. That seems to be a pretty clear indication that you feel you are more busy. If not, what would you infer? It certainly seemed to be trying to distinguish what a cool guy like you does, versus someone like me.

Say, a comment, you said that the President has the power, if sufficient probable cause exists, to wiretap w/o a warrant. Now as I said, that wasn't the topic, but while we're on it.

1. Almost zero legal minds outside the party mantra agree with you, nearly all independent comments, and every independent review suggests that the President is at best "on shaky legal ground. (to quote the Congressional study) So, I'm not quite sure where you derive your conclusion from. FISA only allows for a 15 day survailance.

2. The issue is also that the President didn't simply restrict this survailance to those who had contact with the purported lists, it also captured hundreds of thousands of other pieces of information, pieces which the NSA itself has said have been retained, and potentially even used.

Consequently Mitch, I'm going to have to treat you as you treat others (i.e. rudely), and say

BZZZZTT! Wrong. No such power exists as you describe it (certainly not without limites), and independent legal opinion supports that you are incorrect and...

BZZZZZTTT!! Double Wrong, the President doesn't ahve the right to collect information on anyone, sift through it, and keep what he likes (what occured). It would be nice if he had actually ONLY captured communication from those "500" suspects (albeit illegal), but that's not what occured.

Man, I sure wish I was as cool as you, then I could lie straight-faced and have no concience to bother me.

PB

Posted by: pb at January 10, 2006 11:32 AM

Hey Peeb, for what it's worth, I don't think Mitch was going for a personal slam on the busy job thing.

Posted by: angryclown at January 10, 2006 12:44 PM

"Actually Mitch, it was that I said, like you, I am rushed, post when I can, have a stressful job...You came back with something to the effect of you really were different, you posted only during the day rarely. I dunno - that you're a hypersensitive drama queen?

You're busy, I'm busy, bfd.

" It certainly seemed to be trying to distinguish what a cool guy like you does, versus someone like me."

There's a point in favor of "hypersensitive drama queen".

Jeez, Peeb - you're pretty thin-skinned.

"1. Almost zero legal minds outside the party mantra agree with you,"

Peeb, I have shut that claim down, hard. I posted links to any number of posts on Hugh Hewitt's site, from ALL OVER the party landscape - including self-described liberals - who support my side to various (usually conclusive) degrees. Your lack of information doesn't constitute an emergency on my part.

"2. The issue is also that the President didn't simply restrict this survailance to those who had contact with the purported lists"

Um, yeah. Do you have a *credible* source on that? Especially one that distinguishes between gathering evidence for court, and gathering intelligence to warn of impending attack?

Get back to me when you have that.

"Man, I sure wish I was as cool as you, then I could lie straight-faced and have no concience to bother me."

Peeb, I've answered - or linked to answers - to every single point you've raised.

Now, I have never *intentionally* been rude to anyone that didn't have it coming - and no, as a general rule, certainly not to you. Especially not to you. Lapses happen, life goes on.

However, I've also never *lied* to anyone, intentionally, in my life. Ever. Not once.

I'm going to assume that it's an indiscretion of the type people do when they're online and not really in control of their faculties or emotions. Hence, my response is "think about it", rather than "Eat shit and drop dead, asshole".

You disagree with me; Fine. You selectively ignore facts presented to you; it's why you're left of center. You get overheated and say crap you may or may not really mean - Pffft. I've seen worse. Life goes on.

But don't call me a liar. Ever.

Posted by: mitch at January 10, 2006 12:55 PM

What AC said.

Simple statement of fact.

Posted by: mitch at January 10, 2006 01:01 PM

Let's see, you call me a liar, but what, you'll get your undies out of place if I call you one?

Once again, it's Mitch the blustering bully.

AC, he may not have been trying to be personal, for all I care, he could have been or not, I don't take his opinion as one to be bothered by, it was just a cheap little shot, and maybe not even a shot, just his own self-importance blowing through.

As for calling you a liar, LIAR LIAR LIAR, what Mitch, you really think your bluster means something? I don't profane you, I point out your hypocrisy, if names really bother you, you need to, just like with Eva, RELAX.. good God. You imply I'm not in control of my faculties, let's see, NOPE, THAT's sure not an insult.

Mitch, you are such a huge hypocrite you can't even see it apparently. And I don't, for a minute, believe you've never lied. Frankly, I think THAT is a lie. You said John Kerry said our troops were terrorists, knowing full well he didn't. That's called intention misrepresentation , and you know what, that's the definition of a lie.

Let's review, Mitch attempts to suggest his life is HARDER than everyone else's (or I guess, at least mine), but that's not personal, it's just Mitch.

He says he never lied, ever, yep.. except for often here.

He makes outrageous statements that mean he can't be taken seriously.

But, HE's insulted after he says (not for the first time) that I'm devoid of my senses - Mitch, go look in a mirror, you've left your faculties by the side of the (electronic) highway long ago.

What's really funny is nearly everything you accuse me of Mitch, is true about you 100 fold.

The primary difference, I neither take you seriously, or get offended by your silliness.

And no Mitch, you haven't come close to answering every point, in fact, you've answered FAR less than you've let go. That would be another BZZZZT! err, mistake made in the effort to misrepresent the truth. First Mitch, you almost always fail to answer my primary point, instead picking up what you like - usually trivial - and picking at it. Second, you can't possibly answer everything, I write too much.. so why then would you even try to make that claim, it's false, and I suspect you know it, which means, you just lied, again.

PB

Posted by: pb at January 10, 2006 06:02 PM

BTW- would you say saying someone has taken leave of their faculties is "polite?"

PB

Posted by: pb at January 10, 2006 06:03 PM

Man, the more I read, the more I laugh.

Mitch--Peeb, I've answered - or linked to answers - to every single point you've raised.

I wonder how this contrasts with the prior statements that you're too busy to do so

You've heard it all before and so won't bother

etc..

Mitch, your memory appears to be a little shaky.

Posted by: pb at January 10, 2006 06:07 PM

"I wonder how this contrasts with the prior statements that you're too busy to do so"

Um, because one day I was too busy, and on a different day I posted links to Hugh Hewitt's interviews and links to opinions by a number of law professors from *all across* the political spectrum that supported (in toto or in the major particulars) the President's policy.

Different days. Different workloads. Y'following me here? Let me know if I need to slow down.

It took me a day or two to notice your comment, way up at the top of all this other stuff.

I'm running into more high school pals on this site! (details offline, someday).

Bad Credit isn't a nightmare to have anymore. It is now easy to live with bad credit. All a normal person needs to do is do some due diligence and not accept rates are are too off from standard. Rates and fees should only be slightly higher.
