What's In A Word

I heard Howard Dean on NPR the other day.

Closely paraphrasing: "We're not fighting terrorists. We're fighting insurgents".

In other words, they're just rebelling against the central authority, not really trying to impose their political will via terror.

Let's see if we can get this straight here: when they blow up car-bombs at the western media's center of gravity, when they kidnap and murder western civilians, when they send videos that bypass the Iraqi free media and go directly to Al-Jazeera (which is aimed as much at the west as anywhere), that assaults the Iraqi central, democratically-elected authority precisely how?

And using what? Terror?

It's part of a concerted attempt to muddy the rhetorical waters - because it's only in muddy waters that their case makes any sense. "An American pull-out wouldn't let terrorists run free! Just "insurgents"! A whole 'nother thing! Honest! And we can reinforce the Iraqis with those 135,000 "moderate Moslem" troops I mentioned during the campaign..."

...oh, wait.

As opposed to the Republican Party Strategy.. make war on those who are not involved, and fail to take meaningful action to protect us for four more years.

Pretty compelling stuff.. you have all the power, yet still seek the boogeyman to blame for your failures.

Poor old Dean just cannot admit that the war on terrorism has any link to Iraq. I heard his backtrack the otherday. What a weasel. It's not withdrawal now, it's "redeploying our troops". One day the dems will run out of words for surrender.

On 9/12/2001, if you knew that four years later that no meaningful attack had occurred on US soil, would you think that we had been successful?

Be honest with yourself. I know that is hard for Dems. I used to be one. By any honest measure, President Bush has been very successful in keeping America safe and Iraq has been a big part of that. Your inevitable talking point response that we are creating terrorists is belied by the fact that we have not been attacked.

Until you have something real to point to give it a rest please
