I was not going to comment on the whole city vs burbs issue, but, now that I see you have Leon for a neighbor, Mitch, I think I made the right choice in New Hope.

Other than the speed trap on Boone at Northwood Park (I'd see half a dozen cars pulled over each day while I was shooting hoops), the cops are a plus. It's those pesky bike cops that drove me nuts! Great place to raise kids... didn't work for me but all my sibs turned out well :)

I grew up bounded by Douglas, 36th, Vera Cruz (frontage road to Hwy 100) and Bassett Creek Park.
Did you guys ever see that homeless guy (I think they called him Ralph) who hung around McD's on 42nd/Wtka, and Target in Crystal and all places in between? He died last year or in 2003. He was like Crystal/New Hope's only frequently visible transient. I'll always remember him with the cart with a couple grocery bags and a few cases of beer, wearing a black trench coat even on the hottest days of the summer, sleeping on bus benches in the evening.

Thanks Bill C--I was wondering what happened to him. I thought he simply left the area.
