Mobbed Up
I made it to the third biennial Minnesota Organization of Bloggers party at Town Hall Brewery, in Minneapolis' West Bank at Seven Corners.
For starters - I love what they've done with the place. It's a great brew pub; wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, and they brew some excellent beer (I laud their Oatmeal Stout and India Pale Ale).
Naturally, the highlight is meeting everyone. I'll see who all I can remember, here:
- Doug from Bogus Gold, bearing cigars.
- Lileks , seated at his usual spot at the head of whatever round Round Table table was available.
- Katie from Yucky Salad With Bones , along with her friend Emily. Don't worry, Katie; self-loathing is not warranted (although permalinks are!)
- Chad and Brian from Fraters , along with Rachel, Mrs. Elder and the Younger
- Nihilist and Sisyphus from Nihilist , awash in mid-feud pique
- Calamity Jo from The MAWB Squad along with Marcus, Doctor Jonz and one of the other Jonzes whose name I can never quite retain, from The Attic.
- Muzzy from Blogizdat
- Bob Davis of KSTP
- Kathy from Cake Eater Chronicles , who was as much fun as her blog is. Which is plenty!
- Mark Yost of the Pioneer Press
- Kurt from Writing History
- Ben from some blog whose name rang not the slightest bell. Someone update me!
- Learned Foot and V-Toed Bill from Kool Aid Report , in mid-feud with the Nihilist crew.
- Andy of Centerfeud ,
- David Strom and Margaret Martin from Our House , the center of the party as always,
- Marty Andrade , back from another long day of Saint Cloud radio,
- Night Writer
- Noodles , whose blog for the life of me I can not remember...
- King from SCSU Scholars
- Pink Monkeybird
- The Hemlers
- Mondocognito from Around The World in 80 Days, if memory serves
- Andy of Residual Forces
- Barry from Water Cooler Wisdom ...
...and probably quite a few more that I'm missing.
These parties are always the highlight of the season; it's an uncommon pleasure to be stuck in a room (or in this case, the Town Hall's lovely patio at Cedar and Washington) with a bunch of maniacally-diverse people who are all having actual fun together.
I'm looking forward to the next one!

Noodles is Peoples Republic of Minnesota, PROM.
And I missed meeting Muzzy? Drat!
Posted by: Sandy at September 5, 2005 10:41 PMThat was the head table? I just followed the scent of good cigars and the sound of brisk talk & laughter - happened to be the Strom Team / Bob Davis / Yost table.
Mitch omits that he wandered from table to table, elevating the energy level of each. It was a great evening; next time I take a cab and drink heavily. Which means I can pop Learned Foot in the kisser for comparing me to Dr. Chandra from 2010, and blame the liquor.

Posted by: LearnedFoot at September 6, 2005 08:16 AMJames may just have hit on a great idea for a fundraiser at the next MOB gathering. Instead of a kissing booth or a dunk tank, we offer the "Pop Learned Foot For $10" attraction. By the end of the night, I imagine that over 90% of those in attendance would pony up for the opportunity. I'm sure that LF wouldn't have a problem taking one (or several dozen) for the team.

I wasn't there, and even I knew that!
