Bleagh, Part II

I mentioned turmoil yesterday.

The programming staff at the company I work at is about six months behind on work - hence, there's not much need for analysis and design, since all design work will be obsolete by the time anyone can implement it.

So my contract ends today.

I'm waiting on news from one company at which I had an interview earlier this week (seemed like a good one - we'll see) and interviews for two more positions, hopefully next week. Plus, there are a few more interesting gigs popping up out there, too.

However, if your company is looking for an Information Architect/Usability Engineer/User Experience Designer, drop me a line...

Mitch - so sorry to hear about the job. Having been though job turmoil myself over the last 3 years, I can fully appreciate your pain. However, I am one of those (pains in the --- as my husband calls it) who believes that every door that closes is an opportunity. I have no doubt that someone of your talent will find a new job soon!

Mitch

Send me you resume or email me. I am a recruiter and I might have a couple of ideas for you.

I think you need a better name for your job...something spiffy. We're thinking of something with "uber" in it.

Good luck, Mitch! Not that it makes it better or easier, but that's life in the tech world -- I've seen massive projects canned before (including mine) and watched entire departments quit in digust with management. Turmoil and upheaval seem constant in this business, although I think it's worst in the software line. But it's pretty addictive work and rather fun, as you're no doubt aware.

It's a shame, but you have to let it slide off and face the next challenge with a smile. I've lived this before just like you have, so realize "it's just business," and keep a positive attitude since it does help with the interviewing.

Why not send your resume to the St Paul School district - seems like there are usability issues with the site they have for teachers? You even posted about that on the St Paul issues list.
