Subject: Apologies
Mr. Hedgecock,
Please accept my sincere apologies.
While I'm only very intermittently able to hear the Rush Limbaugh program due to my work schedule, I have gotten into the habit of turning to something - anything - else when I hear your voice. I used to mutter under my breath "He's gotta be the worst talk show host in San Diego".
I was mistaken
I was listening to the Fast Eddie Schultz show whilst running an errand today, and I caught Stacy Taylor, the erstwhile morning guy at KLSD.
Oh, sweet ghost of Marconi, spare me. What a dreadful, vapid, waste of bandwidth; all of the style of Nick Coleman combined with the incisive, reliable content of a Mike Malloy. To call him "dreadful" would be to insult things that are genuinely full of dread.
My apologies again, Mr. Hedgecock. No hard feelings. It's just business.
Mitch Berg

I don't know...I kinda like Roger Hedgecock...I guess I pay more attention to what he has to say than his style...
Posted by: Colleen at August 3, 2005 09:40 PMMitch! I have to disagree with you. I think Roger Hedgecock is great. Smart; rock-solid conservative; gets right to the point; not afraid to say what he thinks; and has political, behind the scenes, experience. I enjoy when he fills in for Rush - sorry to hear that you don't like him.
Posted by: Rambix at August 3, 2005 09:46 PMI'm with you Mitch. There's something about his voice and delivery that just bores me. The substance of what he talks about is fine, but there is no life in it.
Posted by: JamesPh. at August 3, 2005 10:04 PMSorry Mitch, but Hedgecock is by far the best fill-in guy for Limbaugh, (With the exception of Tony Snow). He's got politics down cold, won't put up with any bs from lefty morons, and has a sense of humor to boot.
Posted by: Rick at August 4, 2005 07:45 AMThe guys that bug me are the obvious hacks, the ones with the weird radio voices who abviously have nothing to say on anything so they begin each show by taking a stupid contrarian position on some issue (doesn't matter what) just to provoke listeners into calling and arguing. I'll take someone with principles any time.
Hedgecock is a hack, although not the worst Limbaugh fill-in. Tony Snow and Walter Williams are the best of the bunch.
But I'd take Hedgecock any day over the radio train wreck filling in for Hugh Hewitt during the next few weeks: Carol "Nails On A Chalkboard" Platt Liebau.
Posted by: the elder at August 4, 2005 08:10 AMI also think Roger is top shelf, he's also no shrinking violet when he takes confrontational calls. He's also my favorite guest host with the possible exception of Walter E. Williams
Posted by: bugger at August 4, 2005 01:32 PMI like Walter Williams, but then we're both economists. Hugh's a lawyer, thus Liebau and now Jed Babbin, who might be worse.
Posted by: kb at August 4, 2005 08:03 PMCould be worse, Mitch. You apparently haven't heard Rick Roberts (760 KFMB) sub for Savage. Ye gods, the man talks about everything from about 9-10 different directions.
What really amazes me is that no one at Limbaugh's syndicator has thought about bringing in Melanie Morgan (560 KSFO) to sub for him. This would be a sort of poetic justice, if you look back at both their days in Kansas City:)
