Um...one of the questions is wrong.

The one about the trunk full of nickels vs. the half trunk full of dimes. They are worth the same. (but the half trunk full of dimes would weigh less)

The quiz indicates that its the half trunk full of dimes.

The answer is a 1/2 trunk full of dimes. Dimes are smaller than nickels. More dimes per unit of volume = more money.

How good are these on-line tests? I took a couple of different ones recently when I was killing some time, and one score I received was 15% higher than the other. Might these things be more designed to stroke the ego of the test-taker?

"How good are these on-line tests?"

They're weak, but occasionally amusing. To address this specific case, "knowledge" isn't generally tested in an "IQ" test. Also, 16 questions is unlikely to generate a meaningful score, even if all of the questions are germane to the subject.

FWIW, my result was the same as Mitch's, though the question I missed was in a different section.

My score was the same as Mitch's too, except I got Genius on the logical and Exceptional on my General Knowledge.

PS Since General Knowledge is an inherently unfair way to gauge intelligence, I claim superiority. There are too many explanations besides lesser intelligence that can account for missing any particular General Knowledge question.

A score of 135 on a standardized test would get you into Mensa. The 98th percentile would be between 128 and 132 depending on the test.

I scored 130 on this exam and I'm sure I missed a few on the general knowledge section.

I score 118-122 on traditional IQ tests.
