Mitch,
I have an idea for you.
Since you already do this anyway, for your weekend radio show, why not write "Blog Stories of the Week" for Shot in the Dark.
This would be the big post that never stops getting updated. On Monday, there might be two candidates for top blog story that shrivel to insignificance, to nothingness, when put next to Wednesday's top stories. And then, Friday Night (in the typical MSM hide-the-story time slot) comes the seed, the acorn, of the "big blog story" that blows Wednesday's "big stories" out of the water.
Since you're already an "Indian Scout" in the blogosphere wilderness, who better to separate "link volume" from importance. The link volume measures are already there, but topics like the growing significance of that "GOP Talking Points Memo" over the last two weeks don't even show up in those measures, I assume.

Just a thought.
