Tag It and Bag It

Kerry concedes:

After a long, tense night of vote counting, the Democrat called Bush to concede Ohio and the presidency, The Associated Press learned.
Thanks, Senator.

The true character of John Kerry is displayed again. The reality of the inevitible is too much to drag the country through another drawn out recount battle. He has made the honorable decision.

All the slime and all the smear on Kerry is shown, once again, to be a false and unfair impression. The Senator is doing what is best for the country, not what is best for him. That is something sadly lacking in the current administration.

Congratulations Folks. I respect the decision of the Electorate, and look forward to following President Bush' actions over the next four years.

Flash, thanks for the congrats, your parting shot at Bush not withstanding. However, Kerry did indeed show his true character, or his inability to do arithmetic. Grace and class dictated a concession last night. To concede only when not conceding would make you look like a bitter buffoon is not honorable, it simply shows a pragmatic -- though delayed -- acceptance of reality.
Shoe on the other foot Bush would have conceded earlier. How do we know? In 2000, while Gore was busily contesting Florida, Bush did not contest New Mexico which was much closer and much more irregular than Florida. He was willing to lose the presidency should the decision on Florida have been different, rather than hurt the integrity of the electoral system.
Slime and smear? Kerry was given a hall pass on character by the entire MSM.

Besides, Kerry might still change his mind.

He actually conceded before he contested!

Chriss: Bush would have went down kicking and screaming, along with the whole Right side of the Blogosphere screaming cheater cheater. Bush didn't bother contesting New Mexico because it wouldn't have mattered. Without Florida, Bush was dead in the water in 2000.

But it's over now, and our democracy has re-elected President George W Bush. The legitimate and rightful occupant of the White House. I just hope he starts doing this Unite not Divide thing he promised us over four years ago.

Any chance . . . . ?

Allison: You may be right. Reasonable people may make new decisions based on fresh information, Unreasonable people don't. Intelligent people know the difference.

'Unite not divide' is a two-way-street. Openning ones arms (medicare funding) and being called a liar (we can all thank Teddy Kennedy for that one!) can only go on for so long. As always...before fingers are pointed (all pun intended) mirrors should be consulted!
