Bin Laden speaks:
Osama bin Laden, addressing the American public four days ahead of presidential elections, said in a video aired Friday that the United States can avoid another Sept. 11 attack if it stops threatening the security of Muslims.Watch for the moonbats to latch onto this bit here:
Reading a statement, the al-Qaida leader refrained from threats of new attacks and instead appealed to Americans.
"Your security is not in the hands of Kerry, Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands," bin Laden said, referring to the president and his Democratic opponent. "Each state that does not mess with our security, has naturally guaranteed its own security."
Admitting for the first time that he ordered the Sept. 11 attacks, bin Laden said he did so because of injustices against the Lebanese and Palestinians by Israel and the United States.
"It never occurred to us that the commander-in-chief of the American armed forces would leave 50,000 of his citizens in the two towers to face these horrors alone," he said, referring to the number of people who worked at the World Trade Center.Someone look in the Democrat checkbook; Terry MacAuliffe had to have written that bit there. Too obvious."It appeared to him (Bush) that a little girl's talk about her goat and its butting was more important than the planes and their butting of the skyscrapers. That gave us three times the required time to carry out the operations, thank God," he said.
Well, there you have it. Bin Laden wants Kerry.
Whatcha gonna do, America?
UPDATE: Chumley Wonderbar says:
OBL believes by saying this that Americans will go for Kerry. Seriously. It's a sort of peace offering; hopefully one that the American people won't be stupid enough to fall for.According to the latest polls, 45% of our fellow Americans aren't the brightest lights on G-d's christmas tree. I'm stumped as to what OBL is up to here. He's evil, but he's not stupid--he has to know his "endorsement" of Kerry will have the opposite effect (although like Iran's "endorsement" of Bush, you can't hold these things against either candidate).
Could OBL be trying to actually get Bush elected? He's been good for business.
Or is OBL so deluded he thinks this will help Kerry?
As for me, I think this is a push: OBL likes Kerry, but if Bush had committed ground troops in Tora Bora, OBL wouldn't be breathing.
And besides, this tape came out on a Friday. That's when you bury news.
My expectation: .25% boost to Bush, rapidly dissipating into a push by Tuesday.
Posted by: Jeff Fecke at October 29, 2004 06:59 PMOh, Mitch, one other thing:
"Well, there you have it. Bin Laden wants Kerry.
Whatcha gonna do, America?"
I can tell you what I'm *not* going to do, and that's base my vote on what Osama wants me to do.
I've said before that I support Kerry because I think he'll do a better job bringing OBL to justice. I don't care whether Osama thinks that's true or not, and quite frankly, if OBL was backing Bush, I'd feel the same way.
I am frankly more resolved than ever, because OBL should've been dead three years ago, Mitch, and he's still breathing. And that pisses me off.
He should've been dead, and we missed our chance because we were lining up troops for Iraq.
Posted by: Jeff Fecke at October 29, 2004 07:49 PMHow dare Osama exploit 9/11 for election purposes. I'm now waiting for the Democratic party to rebuke this attempt to get their candidate elected through negative campaign ads...
*cough*
Posted by: Eric Anondson at October 29, 2004 08:22 PMOsama is hoping that his little "appeal" will have the same result that al-Qaeda's more violent "appeal" had in Spain. So many Americans have expressed a sentiment of "war never solved anything" that Osama probably actually believes that a majority of voters can be swayed in that direction. Besides, it's likely that OBL's primary news sources are largely Arab and European, and they seem to portray Bush as the leader of a great minority of violent Americans.
Posted by: CW at October 29, 2004 08:44 PMPeople,
Smarts, intelligence, cleverness, these are not necessary to make the proper response to the DIRTBALL'S offer. Courage, a glimpse of how overwhelmingly powerful America is, a fine appreciation of who we are, of all that we have been and meant, contrasted to what he and his band of veiled head choppers are, and what they represent. No one needs to be fully briefed on the minutiae of terror objectives and intent. This is a challenge to the very gut of America, and Americans. This dirtball needs to find out, that our national pastime is football. And we are very capable of playing for keeps.

Oh, BTW, Kerry does not really give two damns about catching this guy. He did not give a damn about winning the war in S.E.Asia, could not be stirred into contesting the cold war, did all he could to stifle the Contras in C. America, and is all too eager to brush this issue, this nuisance under the rug. It is all law enforcement, kind of like a grand CSI Mideast, if you will. He, in his own words, repeatedly stated that he wants us to go back to how it used to be. Let me remind you how it used to be. We always promised we would "bring them to justice," we would "pursue them to the end of the earth," we always uttered that "they could run, but they can"t hide." How many Presidents have uttered these utterly fatuous words, fatuous because they NEVER meant them, for a variety of reasons, some good, some pusillianimus. Nevertheless, no one but a couple of flunkies and stooges has ever been caught. No one was ever brought to justice, no one was ever too troubled by our pursuit to the purported ends of the earth, no terrorist ever lost sleep that we were after them, that we were going to break the door down any minute and stitch them proper. Hell, they did not even bother hiding, let alone running. They laughed at us, held us in contempt, curled their lips in disdain at the very thought of our manhood. Such and worse they deemed us at. And "men" like Kerry is what they apprised us at. They operated, from where they always operated, Afghanistan, N.W. Frontier, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Mindanao. BUT NOW, we finally have a President who keeps a private list with names and faces in the desk in the Oval Office. And after each dirtball gets drilled, this President crosses out their names and faces, and does so with relish.
NOW, we have a President who when he says you have 48 hrs to get out of town, THE CLOCK IS RUNNING. Now we have a President who has the manhood to GUT it out if necessary. Now we have a President who plainly said, the mullahs WILL NOT get the bomb.
The very suggestion that Kerry is going to get this guy, that he is going to fight, let alone fight more aggressively, ruthlessly and effectively is such a joke. The joke is so sad, so pathetic, so clearly at variance with everything that he has ever done or said, that I am surprised that any American male could buy it. Women might be swayed by that type of bullshit, but men, no way.

Osama Bin Laden released a video whose transcript is given here. You American people, my speech to you is the best way to avoid another conflict about the war and its reasons and results. I am telling you security is an important pillar of human life. And free people don't let go of their security contrary to Bush's claims that we hate freedom. He should tell us why we didn't hit Sweden for instance. Its known that those who hate freedom don't have dignified souls.like the 19 who were blessed. But we fought you because we are free people, we don't sleep on our oppression. We want to regain the freedom of our Muslim nation as you spill our security, we spill your security.I am so surprised by you. Although we are in the fourth year after the events of Sept 11, Bush is still practicing distortion and misleading on you, and obscuring the main reasons and therefore the reasons are still existing to repeat what happened before. I will tell you the reasons behind theses incidents.I will be honest with you on the moment when the decision was taken to understand. We never thought of hitting the towers. But after we were so fed up, and we saw the oppression of the American Israeli coalition on our people in Palestine and Lebanon, it came to my mind and the incidents that really touched me directly goes back to 1982 and the following incidents. When the US permitted the Israelis to invade Lebanon with the assistance of the 6th fleet. In these hard moments, it occurred to me so many meanings I cant explain but it resulted in a general feeling of rejecting oppression and gave me a hard determination to punish the oppressors. While I was looking at the destroyed towers in Lebanon, it came to my mind to punish the oppressor the same way and destroy towers in the US to get a taste of what they tasted, and quit killing our children and women.
