Enter Envoy

John Kerry says he'll bring his formidable diplomatic prowess to the table in bringing our allies into the war on terror.

He'll have to be a formidable diplomat indeed.

Accordgin to the the Financial Times:

French and German government officials say they will not significantly increase military assistance in Iraq even if John Kerry, the Democratic presidential challenger, is elected on November 2.

Mr Kerry, who has attacked President George W. Bush for failing to broaden the US-led alliance in Iraq, has pledged to improve relations with European allies and increase international military assistance in Iraq.

"I cannot imagine that there will be any change in our decision not to send troops, whoever becomes president," Gert Weisskirchen, member of parliament and foreign policy expert for Germany's ruling Social Democratic Party, said in an interview.

The dirty little secret Kerry won't tell; the French and German decision to stay out of Iraq has much more to do with
  • their complicity in the Oil for Food scam
  • The enemies they've made in Iraq, especially in those likely to wind up in power now that the nation is free, and
  • French and German internal politics. The Germans are currently ruled by a left/farther left coalition of Sozialdemokraten - think Highland Park DFLers - and Grüne, the Greens - think Minneapolis City Council. That coalition in particular wouldn't go to war, anywhere, for any reason, even if a lucky-wearing John Kerry carried them up the Diyala River on his swift boat.
...than with the Euro public's hatred of Bush. Between Kerry's slander of Allawi earlier this week, and his "Allies'" rejection of his key foreign policy "qualification"...what's left?

Take a couple days to read Bill Gertz' 'Treachery' and you'll be able to add a bunch of other stuff to your 'France and Germany decision to stay out of Iraq list'. Disgusting.

Just like the Origins of WWI is a popular masters thesis topic today because of the complexity and gravity of poor decisions and rhetoric, the War on Terror will be a popular history thesis in the future for the same reasons. I think that our grandkids will be amazed at the betrayal, duplicitousness, and naivete of our 'allies' and of the presidential candidates of our time. Russia will probably be given a pass, because it's hard to become good and trustworthy within only fifteen years of throwing off the yoke. France, Germany, and Kerry, on the other hand, will be pounded by history. What the hell were we thinking treating them as equals instead of the casual enemies that they've made themselves out to be? Good question.

If there were no other reason to vote for Bush, I would vote for Bush because of this: Kerry knows about all that Germany, France, and Russia have done to us (and continue to do) and he still talks as if the rifts that made themselves apparent in 2002-3 were President Bush's fault. Bush lied?

It is hard to understand liberals who by and large feel.....

1. 9-11 would never have happened under Al Gore

2. The Global recession was caused by Bush after only a few weeks in office.

3. Kerry will bring immediate peace and prosperity to the US.

4. "Rich" people should pay all the taxes.

5. They never met a tax or a lawyer they couldn't vote for.

6. The world will love us again if only Kerry is elected.

7. Sanford & Sons contracting should have been awarded Haliburtons contract.

8. Letting Radical Islamist control the worlds oil supply is good for jobs in America.

9. Millions of illegal immigrants should have the same rights and benefits as American citizens.

10. The most important current issue in the election is what happened 30 years ago.

The only diplomatic prowess John Kerry has ever exhibited was two meeting with the Viet Cong.
