Is Bill O'Reilly the equivalent of a teenager dhing her hair pink to rile her father? Or is he just a stealth idiotarian?
O'Reilly, long a favorite of conservatives, surprised Wallace with some of his views on political issues.I never really liked O'Reilly much, even when I thought he was right about some things. He said he is pro-gun control, against the death penalty, for civil unions and for gay adoption (as a last resort instead of state custody). And O'Reilly said he's not necessarily voting for President Bush this November.
"I've known (Democratic presidential nominee John) Kerry for 25 years. He's a patriot. I'm listening to what he has to say," he tells Wallace.

I don't know why people think he's some TV version of Rush Limbaugh. He not a conservative, and I don't think he's ever admitted to being one. A fair part of the left has relegated him to the right because he asks tough questions of lefties now and then. (Apparently, Balance to most lefties means tough on Bush, kid gloves on Democrats.) The same thing happened with Chris Matthews 5-7 years ago before he imploded....he asked lefties hard questions and people were sure he was a conservative.
But hey, we all know Fox is Conservative, and that means Bill is one as well. Life is just simpler that way.
Posted by: Jerry Leigh at September 28, 2004 04:06 AMBill O'Reilly doesn't get them all, but he does do a pretty good job of spanking the Spin-meisters. That is his redeeming quality. He may be somewhat of a blowhard who has his own views (and tends to let them slip into his work more often than not), but it is certainly enjoyable to see him call the "Spinners" both left and right, when they avoid the questions and begin to spout their agendas. "Pinhead" is so fitting in most cases when he uses it and I really enjoy the "Kool aid" graphic when someone writes an e-mail that has no basis in reality!
Posted by: fingers at September 28, 2004 09:48 AMBill O'Reilly is nothing but a supporter of Bill O'Reilly. He will say anything or do anything that he believes will keep the attention on him.

One has to wonder then if Fox correspondents Juan Williams, Nina Totenberger, and Eleanor Clift are now “conservatives” as well. ;)

I was at Target tonight and saw "The O'Reilly Factor for Kids." Make it stop!
