One of those "Foreign Leaders" is Storing It For Him

Via the Professor, this interview on Second Amendment-y stuff with John Kerry.

OL: Are you a gun owner? If so, what is your favorite gun?

Kerry: My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam. I don’t own one of those now, but one of my reminders of my service is a Communist Chinese assault rifle.

An Instapundit reader asks:
1. How did you acquire this assault rifle? Is it an illegally imported, untraceable souvenir?

2. Is it a fully-automatic weapon or a semi-automatic?

3. Where is the gun now? Is it legal for it to be kept there?

4. How can you support a law that forbids other people owning a weapon that you already own?

Indeed - is this one of the weapons covered by the ban that Kerry castigated the President for allowing to lapse last week?

Let us know, John Kerry (or any of his supporters). Maybe you can fill in some of the proof he was in Cambodia, while you're at it.

The only Chinese-made long gun most folks could get permission to ship back to the US was a Chi-Com copy of the SKS, which stands for Semionov Self-loading Carbine in Russian (no version I know of could fire full-auto intentionally). It does not have a detachable mag, and is loaded with a metal strip clip. If he thinks an SKS is an assult rifle:

1) He's too stupid to run for office (no s@$t).

2) I guess my M-1 Garand is an "assult rifle", too.

Shmuck.

By the definition of "assult rifle" in the law, some SKS were banned depending on where they were made. The Yugoslav weapons tended to come with bayonet lugs and flash suppressors. The more popular and much cheaper Chinese variant only had the lug.

Your M1 in general only had the bayonet lug unless you had one of the ones changed to fire grenades (pretty rare).

Your point #1 is quite true. If his replacement bill had passed your SKS *and* M1 would be banned. Idiot.
