The Ossetia School Siege is not turning out at all well:
News breaking just now that terrorists have set off explosives in the gymnasium where from 400 to 1,000 people have been held hostage by Chechen Islamic terrorists. The roof has collapsed, from demolitions charges maybe, probably on the children. Casualties -- there's an antiseptic word -- will be heavy. The terrorists will all be killed, but who gives a damn, they've done their dirty work. The good news is that some children and other people have escaped. These are small mercies. The tactical situation seems confused. A goat rope. Survivors are being taken out on stretchers. Kids almost naked. If only the US wasn't so busy chasing around Iraq, we could have gotten Bin Laden. Right?
But wait - terrorist atrocities aren't always directly linked with Bin Laden?
Sickening. We have to win this thing.

Interestingly enough, CNN was giving what seems to be the straight scoop on what happened during the hostage crisis in Russia. Too bad that Peter Jennings couldn't do as well. I heard Peter Jennings talk about how the Russians had said that they would do everything they could do to protect the hostages. Then Peter Jennings made out like there was an unprovoked attack on the hostage-takers by the Russian troops (which was false, of course).
The real story is that the terrorists had set off explosives and started shooting at escaping hostages. An ambulance had been sent in to retrieve bodies of those already killed by the terrorists. When that happened, a good number of hostages made a move to escape. Seemingly, the terrorists panicked and set off their explosive charges in the gym roof. They also started shooting children in their backs, as the children tried to escape.
In answer to that, the Russian troops had not option but to fight to save as many hostages as they could. They also had the help of the local citizenry, men who helped the troops save children and women (all the men had been killed).
I couldn't believe Peter Jennings, and I was extremely angry that he would do such as thing. He was either ignorant of the facts or else he lied to make the Russian soldiers look bad, when in fact, they were heroes.

Sadly, this is going to be a long, bloody road until Muslims, particularly Arab Muslims, purge the radicals from their own ranks.
And the Left fears GWB, go figure.
