Senator Cliff Effing Clavin

Jeff Fecke commented yesterday:

I still think that in the end, at worst this is somewhat embarassing for Kerry and then it vanishes into the night.
Certainly if the media has its way, that's exactly what will happen.

But I can't help but remember when I used to work in bars. You can't swing a cat without hitting someone who "used to be in the CIA", or "Is an undercover cop on a stake-out", or whatever. It's a sign of someone who doesn't believe their own story is enough to compel interest and command attention; they have to appropriate someone else's story to feel adequate.

I have no problem if John Kerry has the same syndrome, personally: he can make up time in Cambodia, conjure mythical spooks and special operations and Nixon presidencies out of the ether (like his foreign leaders and allies and moderate moslem soldiers and secret disengagement plans) until Charlie leaves the perimeter.

I just don't want him as president.

Jeff also noted:

It's a Bush/National Guard thing.
Er, no.

Bush never made that up. Unlike John Clavin Kerry, he told the truth.

Except, of course, that Bush may not have. (I'll stop short of saying he hasn't; the jury's still out. But he hasn't been proven to be telling the truth, either.)

Tell a NG soldier his service isn't honorable..., Tell any jet fighter pilot his job isn't dangerous - and at times life threatening -- see what it gets you. How can anyone -- no matter what color the sky outside their window, consider an admitted war-criminal, and pathological liar, a better choice than a level-headed, proven quantity as Commander-In-Chief?

This would be irrational Kerry hatred, no?

I look forward to the next lecture on how the left has it in for GDub. Because this Example A is the inverse of the most crazed Deaniac.

And my guy isn't even President yet!

Kerry has made his service in Vietnam the central fact of his campaign. He has talked and written repeatedly about his combat in Cambodia, the covert ops, the CIA agents, etc. Apparently none of that really happened. Now his campaign is retracting his statements. It directly affects the credibity of what he says is his primary qualification for being elected president -- his Vietnam service.

Nobody on the right is saying Kerry=Hitler or that he killed millions or any of the other crap the Deanics regularly spew.
