Choked With Hate

This is sad. Or sick. I can't quite decide:

A South Florida woman who died this week had an unusual last request. Instead of flower or contributions in her name to a charity, she asked those who loved her to try to make sure President George W. Bush is not re-elected...Abbey, who was a lifelong Democrat, died Monday -- coincidentally on the first day of the Democratic National Convention...Abbey was buried the day after the Democratic convention ended. Her unusual death notice in the Miami Herald said: "You can honor Joan's values by voting against George Bush and contributing to a liberal or Democratic cause."
Paul Johnson used to say the great disease of the left is that it is the driving force of their lives.

Sad, sad, sad

When you look at the rhetoric of the Dem politicians and pundits toward the right over the last 30-40 years it's not a wonder that some poor old soul like this woman would feel the way she does.... er, did.

As has been re-counted numerous times, the Left just can't accept that someone might have a different take than theirs on a given issue. And if you do, it has to be for some nefarious reason. This woman's statements are the culmination of decades of bad faith politics from the Left.

Erm... I guess I don't get what is working y'all up about this. Or what makes her dying request "hateful", "sad", or "sick".

Jeff Schmidt --

Point well taken, although I didn't see anyone say that her request was hateful.

Personally, I find it sad on two levels. First, it is sad to me that a person would make their last act before death a political act. Admittedly, a matter of taste on my part. Secondly, I am politically saddened that she thinks it so important to defeat President Bush. I like the guy and the overall job he's done, especially in the WOT. Obviously she did not. That saddens me.

I would imagine that my thoughts mirror Mitch's and Silver's comments.
