Powerline notes this exchange between the Bush and Kerry campaigns:
Bush also took issue with Kerry's pronouncement this week that he and running mate John Edwards were proud of the fact that they opposed in the Senate the $87 billion aid package for Afghanistan and Iraq. Kerry said they had done so because "we knew the policy had to be changed.''The sound of the ground below the rhetorical barrel being scraped? "But members of Congress should not vote to send troops into battle and then vote against funding them, and then brag about it.''
Kerry's campaign responded that Kerry had served in the Vietnam War and questions linger about Bush's wartime service in the Texas Air National Guard.
It's incredible that Kerry is staying on that Meme. It's remarkably petty.

The ironic thing is that Air Guardsmen who trained on the F-102 fighter like Bush had a higher fatality rate for training than non-infantry personnel (like Kerry) did while serving in combat in Vietnam.
Posted by: PJZ at July 14, 2004 01:05 PMThis sounds like something that you'd find in the Onion, if the Onion was funnier. I mean, Kerry's reliance on his Vietnam War experiences to answer each question has become a joke, right?
It's time for Kerry's campaign to get in on the joke. We're laughing at him now.
