Out of Town

I'm leaving town for a two-day business trip in about an hour.

I'm thinking about bringing the laptop, on the off chance that my hotel has wi-fi or a usable cat5 connection, but just in case, posting might be pretty light until Thursday.

Boy, you computer geeks are spoiled. Unplug the phone in your room, and plug in the laptop.

That's a good way to fry your modem. The high current of the hotel's digital PBX line will overload the analog interface and damage the components.

That, plus I use cable at home; I don't actually have a dial-in number for my ISP.

Good thing I am not so technologically advanced, otherwise I would not be able to enjoy Shot in the Dark and the Northern Alliance while on the road.
