Re: Tenet, courtesy Powerline:
So the very people who neutered the CIA are now gleeful because George Tenet, who did his best to repair the consequences of their folly by rebuilding the intelligence-gathering and operational capabilities of the agency, was left holding the bag for September 11.My lefty friends ask "Whaddya think about Tenet bailing?" (or, as Flash says, "What did the RNC tell you to say?").
I think it's about time. Tenet held the job a VERY long time, did a creditable job in some ways - hamstrung all the way by the very people who are trying to make hay against the Administration with the resignation.

I would point out this from his speech to the CIA:
"[ CNN ] Here at CIA, I have had the greatest of colleagues, starting with John McLaughlin, a man of magical warmth, wit -- you know his nickname is Merlin -- wisdom and decency; the finest deputy and friend I could ever have. And he will be a great acting director.
This is the most difficult decision I've ever had to make.}
To which my mind said WTF!?
This is a man who has ordered operatives into life-threatening situations in Afghanistan and Iraq, this is a man who has had a number of CIA agents die on his watch.
Yet, deciding to resign is the most difficult decision he's had to make?
I would say that's the definition of a bureaucrat.
What he should have said was something like: Second only to ordering the brave men and women of this agency into harms way, this decision was the most difficult I've had to make.
