Oh, That Liberal Media

Can you imagine this argument happening if this involved Bush instead of Kerry?

Kerry told reporters in front of cameras, 'Did the training wheels fall off?'... Reporters are debating whether to treat it is as on or off the record...
Is there any doubt?

Michelle Catalano touches on the same point in greater length, and Ed ties it in with some history.

Michelle asks the right question: Is this the kind of immature jerk we want in the white house?

I think this is a perfect illustration of the liberal media that dare not speak its own name than of Kerry's readiness for office. We're all human, we all say jerky things, and some folks enjoy it and some don't. Bush's "I'd better call my lawyer" when he was accused of defying "International Law" was rightfully declared kind of jerk-ish and yet also pricked a balloon that needed pricking quite badly. And the major media harrumphed on cue about it as if he'd said "we start bombing in 5 minutes."

Kerry's jape may be more on the prick side than pricking, but there really is no doubt that it's getting kid-gloves treatment from his supporters - that is, the major media - than any such comment of Bush's has and/or would.
