Pity Me

Most of my working career - actually all of it - I've worked in some of the most wretched offices in the Twin Cities; converted railroad sheds, converted storerooms, closets...

...so I don't feel at all bad that after 11 years in the business, I finally have an office I enjoy sitting in.

Oh, I know that it was probably an administrative glitch that stuck me in a window cube on the ninetheenth floor of a local office tower. I'm sure it can't last forever, and that heads will roll.

But until they do, this is what I come in to see in the morning:

Oh, don't worry. I'll tough it out.

Wow, that is one hell of a nice view. My office window looks out on the parking lot.

On the other hand, my office just gave me a 19 inch flat panel display for my new workstation, so I probably won't do too much look out the window anyway...

"Office?... "Window?"... I'm dyin' here.

Congrats on the view, Mitch, and here's hoping that I can look forward to something like that in 6 years or so!

Windows, you mean there are offices with Windows. *looking around my windowless chasm*

Your view looks familiar. Is it in the First Bank building. It looks like 'The Doctors' old view. Although his actual office faced straight East and had a nice view of the Dome, with the St. Paul Skyline in the distance.

No doubt a pointy-haired boss will correct the administrative error by building a cubicle around you to contain your view.....

Hey, I worked in your curent building 10 years ago, when I was living in Downtown Mpls. It was a great building to work in, I loved living in Mpls., and the work was o.k. for a while. I've lived in a few different states since then, but I do occasionally miss the days when work was a 10 minute walk away, I called Enterprise on those few occasions when I needed a car, and I knew the names of several good bartenders. Oh well, my liver is probably better for having moved on. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
