Matthews Remembers Hardball

Watched Matthews on the Today show.

Matthews, of course, has been ripped over and over this past week for his relentlessly pansylike interview of John Kerry - softball after pathetic softball.

This morning, being interviewed by Matt Lauer over his interview with Donald Rumsfeld, Matthews noted that Rumsfeld had said there was no direct connection between Iraq and 9/11.

Matthews: "...it took me eight tries to get that answer..." (emphasis added).

He tried eight times to get Rumsfeld to "admit" something?

Eight?

That's about eight more tough questions than he tossed John Kerry.

Dude, the corporate media is NEVER going to press the power elite for answers. Look at NBC: three prime-time hour-long Bush lovefests, narrated by Brokaw and shot through inch-think gauze. Not to mention the shameless pandering of Dubya's Meet the Press interview---taped instead of live, edited by the white house, all questions submitted in advance, etc.

There can be no question that the media is much, much easier on the the right-wing extremists in Washington than they are on the left. But if you're rich, you can pretty much write your own ticket in this political process.

When journos interview journos, it's not news, nor interesting.
