Ghastly

The headline on the Democratic Underground story says "Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan"

Which is all I should expect from Democratic Underground.

And yet it's still depressing.

Were the Nazis heroes? Didn't they also die for what they thought was right? Haven't we all learned by now that *everyone* is doing what they think is right. The question is, what can be observed about their actions. Fighting in Iraq or in Afghanistan means you're fighting for the wealth and power of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, et al. We now have pipelines being built across both countries. Was that worth dying for? Does dying for pipelines make one a hero? Conditions in Afghanistan and Iraq are worse than before the invasions. In Afghanistan the Northern Alliance is (supposedly) in power, which is composed of some factions that make the Taliban's record on human rights look near respectable. In Iraq soldiers are dying daily because the Iraqi people refuse to become an occupied nation, a US colony. That is not going to stop, ever. We've learned that lesson time and time again. Wherever you find colonialism, you will find resistance. History has taught that the resistance always wins except in cases of undeterred genocide (such as the genocide of the Native Americans).

To be honest I wish I could feel sorry for the guy, but the truth is I really feel nothing at all. To many have died and too much money has flowed into the pockets of Dick Cheney to even worry about it. Either people will wake up, or they'll continue to waste their lives and the lives of others for the profits of a privileged few. How long will we have to wait for people to embrace a proper remembrance of all the lives that have been lost in the past years?

These people will be calling the shots if John Kerry wins the election.

Good grief. Have these people no respect for a fallen man? (Of course, what you've quoted is an obvious answer.) And who said anything about colonialism (other than the lib crowd)? Since when is freeing a people and helping them set up an independent government creating a colony? I wonder where that leaves Japan...

God forbid Kerry wins. And may He continue to protect ALL of our troops overseas & comfort their families.

These D.U./Idiotarian types are starting to spook me. What happens after Bush wins and win decisively when when the D.U. types explode?

Think we will have a few drumhead ruthless tribunals of the D.U. types in case they pull anything seditious....

What do you guys get from the Daily Kos acidheads and their ranting?

Miss O'Hara (whose blog, by the way, is a new discovery to me - and an excellent one, at that!),

You've identified the hard part about arguing with the left - when they're in a corner, they toss out a non-sequitur like "colonialism". Just daft.

Greg - that, my friend, is fodder for a post in its own right.

As for Kos - I used to read it (I used to write for Kos "Political State Report", actually), but these days it's too depressing. Disturbs whatever faith in humanity I have.

Yes, Mitch, the D.U. types and their rhetoric has been causing my hair on the back of my neck to raise for some time.

Scenario...Bush wins with 55-57% of the vote...the D.U. types going into active acid hatred against any American in their own country (i.e. burning, looting, assassination) start a active 5th column movement here because they cannot believe the American electorate will support Bush. In the end we have to use police and national guard/militia powers to hunt down and finish the remains of these 1960's idiotarian generation.

I can see the unshavened, vegan, dope-addled types crying freedom and trying to kill everything around them...sort of like Berkeley invading the U.S. of A....

"These people will be calling the shots if John Kerry wins the election."

Sweet fancy Moses, what a strange thing to say.

These half-witted sneaker-lickers do not represent legitimate Democrats, despite the attention they generate.

Remember three things, Mitch:

1. John Kerry links to DU on his website;

2. These people are cowards hiding behind a computer monitor who would defecate in their pants before they'd say something like that title to the face of a person in military garb;

and

3. The lefties are the ones that are afraid of guns. If they decide to "take to the streets" after a Bush win in November, they will be sorely outgunned.

Just be sure to sight in your scopes...
