I've said it many times; nobody can take anything away from Kerry for having served in combat, whatever his motivations, his actions after he left the service, or the disposition of his naval career.
However, we may need to make sure he was actually present for everything he claimed:
According to a piece in today's Boston Glob, however, there seem to be questions on that count:
On the site, the Massachusetts senator is described as the skipper of Navy boat No. 94 during several actions in late January 1969.Perhaps he, too, was at the dentist when he was supposed to have been in command of Swift Boat 94... Posted by Mitch at April 23, 2004 11:13 AMHowever, Edward Peck, who was the skipper of the 94 before Kerry took over, said combat reports posted by the campaign for January 1969 involve action when he was the skipper, not Kerry. Peck, who was seriously wounded in fighting that took place on Jan. 29, 1969, said he believes Kerry campaign aides made a mistake in claiming Kerry as skipper of the 94 at that time.
Picking nits! Hopefully people will read to the bottom:
++Kerry's commanding officer, George Elliott, said in a telephone interview that he vividly recalls Peck's injury and hospitalization and Kerry's replacement of Peck. "I think somebody made a mistake who doesn't know" the timing of Kerry's service, Elliott said. Kerry was skipper of boat No. 44 in December and January before taking over command of the 94, he said.++
Now, when is GW going to release all his records, especially the ever popular DD214!

Posted by: Flash at April 23, 2004 11:50 AMAll of Bush's records were released back in February. If you want a DD214, have a look at his NGB22, the Guard equivalent of the DD214:

Picking 30 yr-old nits is pretty unproductive, can anyone define what Kerry's positions are on anything except "Bush=bad"?
