Life has its seasons. \u00a0 Ups and downs, goods and bads, times when you can’t stop creating and time when you’re creatively blocked up so bad you’re borrowing energy from six months out. \u00a0<\/p>\n

And in 23 years of writing this blog, I’ve been through a lot of them. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

But none quite like this year. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Job layoff in February, and five months on the beach. \u00a0 Then a turn around, and being pretty overcommitted, job-wise (a day job, a part-time thing, the show, Hot Air<\/em>, and a couple of bands on the side). \u00a0And of course the acceleration of my father’s decline and passing, which followed my mom’s three years ago<\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gotta admit, my brain feels a little numb. \u00a0I’m covering ten pounds of demands with five pounds of energy. \u00a0 And for the first time since 2002, the blog finds itself getting squeezed out. Doesn’t help that the blog’s technical issues (it stopped letting me schedule posts in advance) have really harshed my mellow. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Which is actually unsettling. \u00a0Getting up at 5AM and writing\u00a0something\u00a0<\/em>every morning has been sort of an emotional home base for me for a very, very long time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And like most seasons, there’ll be a change at some point. \u00a0Into what, I don’t know. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

I know that every time I look at moving the show show over to Substack, I…just…can’t. \u00a0 It feels like “moving to Facebook” was for blogging 15 years ago – giving the keys to the house to some stranger who promises he’s gonna take good care of things, yessirreebob. \u00a0 I didn’t buy it then and I don’t now. \u00a0<\/p>\n
