{"id":89611,"date":"2025-05-12T06:02:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T11:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=89611"},"modified":"2025-05-12T06:36:49","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T11:36:49","slug":"mental-footnote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=89611","title":{"rendered":"Mental Footnote"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I&#8217;ve said it quite a few times; I support capital punishment for every reason but one &#8211; the inevitability that the state will execute the wrong person.&nbsp; And given that that is one of the ultimate wrongs &#8211; an innocent person dies, the guilty party goes forever free &#8211; that&#8217;s all the reason I need to oppose capital punishment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it&#8217;s not just an intellectual parlor game; we&#8217;re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;source=web&amp;rct=j&amp;opi=89978449&amp;url=https:\/\/innocenceproject.org\/cameron-todd-willingham-wrongfully-convicted-and-executed-in-texas\/&amp;ved=2ahUKEwi2-4WArZaNAxXJ78kDHRkRE2cQFnoECBIQAQ&amp;usg=AOvVaw0Ckt9rWmZFwbA-eAoV2u7n\">fairly certain one innocent guy was executed<\/a>; there are suspicions about many other such cases.
