{"id":87408,"date":"2024-04-26T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-26T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=87408"},"modified":"2024-04-25T08:14:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T13:14:47","slug":"brand-identity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=87408","title":{"rendered":"Brand Identity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Decades about, the Left used the term &#8220;Politically Correct&#8221; as a positive virtue; it referred to people, ideas and brands that, in 21st century parlance, signaled the <em>correct <\/em>virtues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took a few years of relentless grassroots conservative satire to turn &#8220;PC&#8221; into a cultural punchline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ditto &#8220;Woke&#8221;; it had an organic meaning among the black community, was appropriated and perverted into something akin to PC, and has since been pilloried to the point where white progressives have, uh, progressed from demanding conservatives &#8220;define woke&#8221;, to insisting it doesn&#8217;t exist.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2972742\/some-democrats-ditching-progressive-label\/\">And now<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Some of the most prominent figures in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democratic-party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democratic Party<\/a> have labeled themselves as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/progressives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">progressives<\/a>, but others, for various reasons, have put distance between them and the label recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several Democrats have left the Congressional Progressive Caucus, with some leaving due to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/02\/21\/progressive-caucus-ritchie-torres-israel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rift<\/a> over the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. One of the most high-profile departures came when Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) confirmed he was no longer in the caucus and shied away from calling himself a progressive when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/ruben-gallego-redefines-seeks-senate-promotion-arizona-rcna146568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">speaking<\/a> with NBC News this month&#8230;Another Democrat who has shed the progressive label is Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who told NBC News in December 2023 that he is \u201cnot a progressive.\u201d He has strayed further from progressive Democrats, especially regarding immigration and Israel, than he was expected to when he was elected in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Minnesota Democrats, of course, are tripling down; &#8220;Progressive&#8221; may be too far to their center.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m going to do my level best to make sure it hurts them. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Decades about, the Left used the term &#8220;Politically Correct&#8221; as a positive virtue; it referred to people, ideas and brands that, in 21st century parlance, signaled the correct virtues.
