And the more I write about it, the more of it comes back to me.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the second or third song I ever saw on MTV:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mr. Mister - Broken Wings\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nKhN1t_7PEY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I gave &#8217;em extra points for sneaking Christian imagery onto MTV (at a time when it wasn&#8217;t <em>quite <\/em>as uncommon as today) &#8211; and removed a few for it being&#8230;it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I never could find a reason to give this then-MTV staple any points at all&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your Arms (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6dOwHzCHfgA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;and am somewhat distressed to say I hear the one on the radio waaaaay more than I should. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t all <em>bad<\/em>, per se.  Some of it was just background music.  This one was on the charts around this time in 1985:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jan Hammer - Miami Vice Theme [OFFICIAL VIDEO]\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6nPTZqnIfFM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever wondered what it looked like to watch two music legends deflate before your eyes, early October of 1985 brought that as well;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dancing in the Street \/\/ Silent Music Video\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BHkhIjG0DKc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, all of the above build up &#8211; or, rather, sink down &#8211; to the level of this song, which was peaking on the charts around this time&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Starship - We Built This City (Official Music Video) [HD]\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K1b8AhIsSYQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;and remains , by acclamation, the worst song in pop music history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all nostaliga as good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll get back on track tomorrow. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Throughout this series, I&#8217;ve focused on memories triggered by music that is cemented into my brain as sublime.
