{"id":84039,"date":"2022-12-08T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=84039"},"modified":"2022-12-07T11:07:55","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T17:07:55","slug":"proof-of-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=84039","title":{"rendered":"Proof Of Concept"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>How certain is the DFL that at least a plurality of Minnesota voters just aren&#8217;t very good at logic, civics or critical thinking?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure enough that they&#8217;re treating the $17 Billion &#8220;Surplus&#8221; a big win for progressive governance, and proof of some divine mandate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Our state\u2019s historic surplus is proof that Minnesota\u2019s economy is strong and growing. One thing is clear: this is a result of the students, small businesses, and working families whose hard work make our economy one of the most resilient and diverse in the country.<\/p>&mdash; Governor Tim Walz (@GovTimWalz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovTimWalz\/status\/1600200072624381954?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 6, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What it actually is, of course, is a combination of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BIllions of dollars in federal Covid stimulus dollars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The normal Minnesota DFL overtaxation&#8230;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8230;with receipts driven up by inflation in the cost of the goods being taxed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All that taxation and inflation going on over an epipandemic surge in stimulus-swollen consumer spending<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark my words &#8211; and I have marked them myself, with &#8220;to dos&#8221; on my calendar on the first Mondays ijn December of 2024 and 2026:   the following will happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The DFL will turn that &#8220;$217.6 Billion in Surplus&#8221; into permanent spending<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The economy will slow into recession (as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minnpost.com\/state-government\/2022\/12\/how-can-minnesota-have-a-record-breaking-surplus-in-a-challenging-economy\/\">even the DFL&#8217;s cheerleaders in their bespoke press are starting to observe<\/a>). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without the Covid stimuli, and with the economy contracting, tax receipts will crash again. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The state will have a multibillion dollar deficit by 2026, probably 2024.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ll check back on this.\u00a0 Oh, yes we will.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How certain is the DFL that at least a plurality of Minnesota voters just aren&#8217;t very good at logic, civics or critical thinking?
