{"id":83608,"date":"2022-10-12T08:46:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T13:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=83608"},"modified":"2022-10-12T09:56:27","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T14:56:27","slug":"its-almost-a-bergs-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=83608","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Almost A Berg&#8217;s Law"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Whenever a Democrat campaign ad features a &#8220;lifelong Republican&#8221; who has, <em>mirabile dictu<\/em>, changed affiliation over whatever the issue <em>du jour <\/em>is, my first reflex is to reply &#8220;no, they most likely are not&#8221;.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Angie Craig seems to have a particular facility for finding these miraculous &#8220;Lifelong Republicans&#8221; who nonetheless agree with her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=68218\"><em>completely <\/em>on one divisive issue or another &#8211; like this self-termed &#8220;NRA Sharpshooter&#8221; <\/a>(who trashed all of the rules of gun-handling, on camera, in the on-air ad Angie Craig ran in 2020) who agreed, as luck would have it, with Craig and Michael Bloomberg on every point of their gun control agenda (which made sense, given that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=59016\">he&#8217;d been a gun control activist for quite a while<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So when a &#8220;lifelong Republican&#8221; &#8211; and <em>biker<\/em>, no less! &#8211; popped up on a Craig ad to talk about how Craig was singlehandedly making insulin affordable, I thought &#8220;there is just no way&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I was right.  <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/vulnerable-dem-features-man-who-doesnt-live-in-her-district-in-campaign-ad\/\">It&#8217;s a lie<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;When Dave [Vesledahl] called me to share his story, I promised him that I would continue to do everything in my power to lower prescription drug costs for Minnesotans,&#8221; Craig said in a statement. &#8220;Everyone deserves access to high-quality, affordable health care\u2014and I\u2019ll be fighting back against the pharmaceutical companies every step of the way.&#8221;<\/p><p>But Vesledahl no longer lives in Craig\u2019s district since Minnesota redrew its congressional map this year. He lives in Nerstrand, Minn., which is located in the state\u2019s First Congressional District. Vesledahl&#8217;s claim that he\u2019s a &#8220;lifelong Republican&#8221; is also contradicted by the fact that he voted in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, according to voter files obtained by the&nbsp;<em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>But thats OK &#8211; he <em>identifies <\/em>as a former Republican:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Dave describes himself as a lifelong Republican, and his voter file registers him as a \u2018Lean Republican,\u2019 Craig\u2019s spokeswoman told the&nbsp;<em>Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And I&#8217;m a &#8220;former Democrat&#8221;.
