That&#8217;d actually get at the ever-popular &#8220;root cause&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What precisely are the stores options?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Call the police?  <\/strong>And have the response come far too late to do anything?  Or, even if the perps are arrested, watch them back on the street before the paperwork is filled out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hire private security?  <\/strong>Whose only value is potential deterrence, maybe.  If not?  They call the cops.  See above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hire off duty cops?<\/strong>  Forget the expense &#8211; $60-80\/hour &#8211; for the moment.
