{"id":82227,"date":"2022-05-23T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-23T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=82227"},"modified":"2022-05-23T05:30:37","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T10:30:37","slug":"sick-and-broken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=82227","title":{"rendered":"Sick And Broken"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The fact that the news media is, today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kare11.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/78000-pounds-of-formula-arrives\/507-25134b29-5d39-4380-be5e-b352c8fd3427?fbclid=IwAR1ZsgK-PXgQiKQ5m22JsPynLFpB6G9SnD08vPHwup5DGif3jD1HejI0JRY#l3iktc1tui8cqk7tboe\">writing stories lauding the administration for its panicky handling of the baby formula crisis <em>that it created<\/em><\/a>, tells us a little about the sick state of both our executive branch, our bureaucracy and our news media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>President Joe Biden authorized the use of Air Force planes for the effort, dubbed \u201cOperation Fly Formula,\u201d because no commercial flights were available<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, that\u2019s mighty big of him, given that it was an executive branch bureaucracy \u2013 the Food and Drug Administration \u2013 whose inexplicable, and as yet unexplained, closing of a formula plant in Michigan, not to mention Byzantine importation restrictions on formula from Third World hellholes like Switzerland in Germany, caused the crisis in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve never been the worlds biggest Donald Trump fan &#8211; but if this had happened on his watch,  a series of peevish and borderline inscrutable tweets would have been followed by executive orders expediting the reopening of the plant and trashing the import restrictions that prevented the free market from doing what it does best Dash getting resources where they are needed, when they are needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fact that our news media is allowing government to treat itself like heroes for \u201csolving\u201d a problem it created (at absolutely sinful and bizarre expense \u2013 have you seen how much military aircraft flights cost these days?) is a little bit like giving a medal of valor to an arsonist for putting out a fire <em>they set<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fact that the news media is, today, writing stories lauding the administration for its panicky handling of the baby formula crisis that it created, tells us a little about the sick state of both our executive branch, our bureaucracy and our news media.
