{"id":765,"date":"2007-04-28T05:39:56","date_gmt":"2007-04-28T11:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/index.php\/2007\/04\/28\/msistlav-rostropovich\/"},"modified":"2007-04-28T05:39:56","modified_gmt":"2007-04-28T11:39:56","slug":"msistlav-rostropovich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=765","title":{"rendered":"Msistlav Rostropovich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cello was my first instrument.\u00a0 And when I was learning it &#8211; especially later in high school and college, when<em>\u00a0<\/em>I was the most serious in pursuing the instrument &#8211; Msistlav Rostropovich was one of the titans of the instrument that I looked up to, much like I did Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan and eventually Richard Thompson on the guitar; the guy who set the level everyone else had to aspire to.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/ae\/music\/articles\/2007\/04\/27\/rostropovich_obit\/?p1=MEWell_Pos4\">Mstislav Rostropovich<\/a>, the legendary Russian cellist and conductor whose molten intensity, interpretive imagination, and technical brilliance won him critical acclaim and widespread audience adoration as well as close friendships with three of the era&#8217;s great composers, died early this morning. The Russian press reported that he died in a Moscow cancer hospital.
