{"id":68234,"date":"2018-10-15T06:00:40","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T11:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=68234"},"modified":"2018-10-14T20:08:04","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T01:08:04","slug":"our-common-enemy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=68234","title":{"rendered":"Our Common Enemy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Diversity is not, in and of itself, strength (as the multi-cultis claim); diversity lends strength to\u00a0<em>shared beliefs<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And while cultural conservatives lament the commonalities\u00a0 our society seems to have lost, perhaps we&#8217;re gaining a new one:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2018\/10\/large-majorities-dislike-political-correctness\/572581\/\">Americans hate PC<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On social media, the country seems to divide into two neat camps: Call them the woke and the resentful. Team Resentment is manned\u2014pun very much intended\u2014by people who are predominantly old and almost exclusively white. Team Woke is young, likely to be female, and predominantly black, brown, or Asian (though white \u201callies\u201d do their dutiful part). These teams are roughly equal in number, and they disagree most vehemently, as well as most routinely, about the catchall known as political correctness.<\/p>\n<p>Reality is nothing like this. As scholars Stephen Hawkins, Daniel Yudkin, Miriam Juan-Torres, and Tim Dixon argue in a report published Wednesday, \u201cHidden Tribes: A Study of America\u2019s Polarized Landscape,\u201d most Americans don\u2019t fit into either of these camps. They also share more common ground than the daily fights on social media might suggest\u2014including a general aversion to PC culture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The whole thing is worth a read.<\/p>\n<p>PC &#8211; like smug white progressivism itself &#8211; seems to be tied to income and education; there seems to be a correlation between being able to\u00a0<em>afford to feel\u00a0<\/em>&#8220;white guilt&#8221; and inflicting it on others.<\/p>\n<p>Which, to be fair, is something anyone traveling through leftist circles in Minneapolis could tell you easily.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diversity is not, in and of itself, strength (as the multi-cultis claim); diversity lends strength to\u00a0shared beliefs.
