I understand the emotional appeal of this law, but the potential for abuse is obvious. And once landlords get burnt, they’ll be twice shy about renting to people who have boyfriend trouble, or are divorced, or have a history of domestic trouble, the unintended consequence of which will be that the very people we’re trying to protect will find it harder to get a place to live.<\/p>\n
