{"id":26044,"date":"2012-02-07T07:54:08","date_gmt":"2012-02-07T13:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=26044"},"modified":"2012-02-06T22:53:42","modified_gmt":"2012-02-07T04:53:42","slug":"26044","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=26044","title":{"rendered":"Time To Stand Up For Stand Your Ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tony Cornish&#8217;s &#8220;Stand Your Ground&#8221; bill &#8211; which would make legal self-defense a more tenable option for law-abiding Minnesotans &#8211; is coming up for another hearing in the Senate Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The bill &#8211; which got side-tracked in the last session, amid a mass of inaccurate and dishonest reporting on the issue &#8211; is a must-pass for this session. \u00a0And I think it&#8217;s fair to say if the GOP allows it to die this time, a lot of gun-owning Minnesotans are going to wonder when they&#8217;ll get some payback for all their commitment.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to urge all you Second-Amendment supporting Minnesotans to get on the phone. \u00a0These Senators are all pretty much in line to <strong>support HF1467\/SF1357<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1012&amp;ls=\">Michelle L. Fischbach<\/a>,\u00a0(651) 296-2084<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1016&amp;ls=\">David W. Hann<\/a>,\u00a0651) 296-1749<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1120&amp;ls=\">Ingebrigtsen, Bill<\/a>,\u00a0651) 297-8063<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1175&amp;ls=\">Magnus, Doug<\/a>,\u00a0(651) 296-5650<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1173&amp;ls=\">Scott J. Bonoff, Barb Goodwin and Linda Higgins &#8211; are worthless Metrocrats. \u00a0Rust-encrusted enemies of civil liberty, none of them is worth the time it&#8217;d take to contact them.<\/p>\n<p>The last two&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1029&amp;ls=\">Keith Langseth<\/a>\u00a0(651) 296-3205<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/member_bio.php?mem_id=1063&amp;ls=\">LeRoy A. Stumpf<\/a>.\u00a0(651) 296-8660<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&#8230;are special cases. \u00a0They&#8217;re outstate DFLers, representing the kind of people who, though they&#8217;re DFLers, value civil liberty. \u00a0Langseth has indicated he&#8217;s not running for re-election, and he&#8217;s likely sold his vote for the DFL&#8217;s customary 13 pieces of silver. \u00a0But Stumpf, with some polite, reasoned pressure from Real Americans and Real Minnesotans [1], might be turnable.<\/div>\n<p>So please &#8211; take a moment to email or (especially) call today and tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Remember &#8211; have them <strong>support\u00a0<\/strong><strong id=\"yui_3_2_0_1_1328583200211297\">HF1467\/SF1357.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[1] Hyperbolic? \u00a0Maybe.
