{"id":10463,"date":"2010-04-30T11:08:35","date_gmt":"2010-04-30T16:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=10463"},"modified":"2011-09-01T07:59:44","modified_gmt":"2011-09-01T12:59:44","slug":"guilt-by-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=10463","title":{"rendered":"RINO By Association?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I peeled this bit out of my liveblog, since I think it&#8217;s worth a discussion on its own.<\/p>\n<p>One of the tempests in the teapot last night; a group of &#8220;liberty&#8221; members of the party were tweeting merrily away that Norm Coleman and that noted moderate Vin Weber were making phone calls on behalf of Tom Emmer.\u00a0 Now, among the purist\/libertarian wing of the party, Norm (and Pawlenty, for that matter) are anathema, because they&#8217;re just not pure enough.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, absolute purism and fifty cents will get you a cup of coffee; politics means compromise.\u00a0 Did Norm and Governor Pawlenty always make the <em>right <\/em>compromises?\u00a0 Perhaps not &#8211; but you have to be in office to be  have an imperfect record.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s a question I&#8217;d like to ask (if only rhetorically) to the &#8220;Emmer&#8217;s a RINO because Norm&#8217;s calling for him crowd&#8221;; which of Norm&#8217;s objectionable policies do you believe Emmer subscribes to, merley because Norm is making calls on his behalf?<\/p>\n<p>Or is this just the most ofay attempt at guilt by association &#8211; policy by association, really &#8211; that I&#8217;ve ever seen?<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to leave an answer in the comments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I peeled this bit out of my liveblog, since I think it&#8217;s worth a discussion on its own.
